Seriously. I you want a photo go. If you want true interest go Antietam. This is one sight that one has to have a said interest to find inquisitive
This is a quaint little get away from the busy life we live. There's a wonderful covered bridge that crosses over a large creek perfect for swimming and exploring which is popular among the locals and I must say I've met a few out-of-town guests as well. There's a small playground and a perfect place for taking pictures and having a picnic. We spend a lot of time here during the summer with the kids and dog in the swimming hole :)
The bridge is lovely, especially inviting is the playground right next to it. Open area too which adds ti tge gorgeous scenery. My boyfriend proposed to me at the bridge last month, so it will forever be a very special place in my heart!!!
This was a fantastic place for a birthday party for our 4-year old son. We rented the one small picnic shelter available for $55. This gets you the shelter for the entire day and there is a number to call if someone else is occupying it and won't leave. Frederick County Parks and Recreation are supposed to post a sign at the shelter which states who has it reserved for the day, but there was none posted on our day.As it turned out, the $55 went to waste as there is one other smaller picnic shelter in the park that is free and first come first served. When we arrived, nobody was there. After we had been there for sometime we saw another family take it over for their birthday party free of charge. The free one is also right near the parking lot and the playground. The one you have to pay $55 for is farther away across a field all the way in the far corner of the park isolated from everyone else. There are several other picnic tables scattered along the stream, horseshoe pits, grills, the covered bridge, and one of the best playgrounds for kids in the county. The restrooms are two portable toilets near the parking lot. It's really a nice park as it's small and tucked away deep in the county so it's not really crowded. There's a creek to watch, listen to, and cool yourself off in the water on a hot summer day. You can't really ask for anymore. The only downside is that it may be a little tricky to find. There's a sign for the park at the intersection of Rt. 550 and Old Frederick Road with an arrow pointing north on Old Frederick Road. The trouble is you might think it's right down the road, but it's actually about a 2.1 mile drive. You will need to keep driving until right after the railroad crossing.
Nice relaxing place to have a picnic. There is a park close so the kids can play. The kids also like to search the waterside for treasures.
A great spot for a picnic. Children love wading in the stream or playing on the playground. It's in a quiet, rural setting, and the historic covered bridge (often a subject for photographers or artists) adds a lot of charm.
This is a must stop. It is so beautiful and scenic. It is so relaxing and quaint. It is a great place to take photos. I am from Florida and there are no covered bridges. I love this covered bridge. It looks similar to the colors of a Farmhouse.
Lovely visit any time of year but expecially in the fall. Not far from Summer Creek Farm, Frederick County's largest certified organic vegetable farm.
The best of the three bridges in the area. It is accessible for pictures from both sides of the stream. Nice picnic area with playground for kids. It does have a portable restroom facility that was the cleanest I have seen. Get the directions to the three covered bridges in the area and take the time to see all three. Visitor centers or hotels should be able to give you the directions or you can find them online. The countryside in this area is beautiful.
