One would be remiss if one were not to take the extra stroll across the bridge to this masculine statue. It has a fine view -- couples (including my wife and I) like to come here after they get married for photo ops!
monument is a kind of a symbol of Tbilisi with the cathedral and the bridge on the river. it has a very dramatic view from the side of the old city.
Just near Metekhi Church, it overlooks the river. While visiting old Tbilisi and Metekhi old church this statue will be on your view.
Its an amazing monument, but do take your trainers; its well lit and looks beautiful all lit up at night. The view from there is great as well. Its well worth the hike
There used to be a small church built by Vaghtang Gorgasali in 4th century, the church do not remains today. That is a place near monument to Vaghtag Gorgasali on Metekhi bridge today.
I live right above the Church and statue so I can come here as often as I want. in the evening, the Mtekhi Church and Bakhtang I are lit up beautiful and as worth the stroll
Fits the Metekhi "cathedral"??? garden, distubing car park by its foot, wonderfull point to shot, best view oppurtunity for old city...
This statue stands, as it always has, overlooked the Kura or Mkvari River. It is so much part of Georgia's history - and can be viewed from the cable car, Mt Mtsatminda - but is particularly beautiful at sunset. Georgia history, medieval, is never far from the people or the culture perhaps even more so now that they are away from being part of the Soviet block.
Sehr sehenswert.
