This park has grown since we moved here. The trails and fields are well maintained. There is something for all who enjoy the outdoors.
Cook park is a great place to take the family. There are a couple of play areas for children, great walking/bike paths that connect two small towns and it is along the Tualatin River.
This is a huge park available to the public with the Tualatin River running through it. It has multiple soccer fields, bike and walking paths. You can rent a kayak or a canoe, you can grille up a burger and watch the kids play or you can walk to your heart's content. In the summer it has the Hot Air Balloon Festival and hosts a few old car days. It's a real outlet for getting back to nature and enjoying special events.
You can do so much here. Tennis. Playground. Dog park. It connects to a long walk that connects to a few other parks in the area. You can walk, run or bike on the concrete walk.
We visit this park in the fall for soccer games, and in the summer for the balloon festival. In between, we'll head to Cook park so the kids can play on the play structures (there are several. There are also really great running/walking/biking paths. Plenty of parking and always well-maintained bathrooms.
Our grandchild is a toddler--there's a great play area just for little ones, and she loved it. It's away from the other play areas, so less busy and therefore it's easier to keep an eye on the little one.
Cook Park is Tigard's main recreational park. It is quite large and consists of volleyball courts, soccer fields, baseball/softball fields, gazebos, walking/biking trails, and a lot of grassy areas for general picnic fun. It is so large that the park is often used for large outdoor venues such as the Tigard Balloon Festival and BMX events. There are a sufficient number of restrooms, and they are above average clean.Personally, I have never been to a city park which offered so many amenities.
The park is professionally manicured and maintained. Plenty of room and parking. The covered social area is ideal for gathering and barbecuing. There is a spacious soccer playing area, baseball diamonds and a boat launch area. There are always friendly and helpful grounds keepers around. This is a delightful area to spend time with family, friends of alone.
Cook Park has something for everyone! Play structures/swings for the kids, park benches, open grassy areas, covered shelters, bbq grills, soccer fields, baseball fields, walking/biking trails, river runs past the back. I think there is even a boat ramp.
Great annual community festival. Bargain at $7 for three days of admission or prepay for $5. Go when the sun goes down to see night glow when the balloons are brightly glowing.
