The Tubac Resort is a great getaway in southern Arizona. The resort is a very historic and beautifully appointed. The spa, restaurants and golf courses are exceptional. The hacienda we stay in was outstanding in its finish out and comfort...quiet, romantic and fun. The staff was excellent and the service impeccable. We visited on Valentine's weekend and it exceeded our every expectation!
I played as a single on two different days just before Christmas. When the couple I was paired with wanted to tee off early I had the option to continue my warm up and play alone. I enjoyed a quick round on a well maintained course. I found it to be a fair challenge. There isn't much water but well positioned to catch a less than perfect shot. Day two I was paired with three nice people. This round included the third 9, Rancho. It is set along the river and the hole along the train tracks go Mexico named "the train wreck" proved to be so. The second shot must go right or left around s large tree with water on the left and OB on the right. I would like a second chance at all 27 holes. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The chart guys even had on Christmas hats and were enjoying themselves.
27 holes--all with unexpected variety---great thought provokers! One of the nines ends with a par 3---over water---beside apasture audience of cows/steers!Well maintained---good condition !Cart availability was better than average--Overall, good value.
A large restaurant divided into several rooms, some overlookingthe golf course. A large outdoor patio - wonderful service - delicious food - we shared bacon-wrapped shrimp for an appetizer - our main courses were a Reuben and a Chicken Salad Sandwich - they have a very large menu - something to please everyone - wonderful, friendly servers!
the fairways are well kept. the greens are terrific. The views are spectacular . the personnel are friendly
The surrounding mountain ranges are lovely. The resort is "old" AZ in decor and charm. We look forward to our next stay.
This is our second year that we have been to the Tubac Resort for a couple of days in December. The resort itself is very nice and the quality of food in the restaurant is excellent. However, based on a few issues we encountered this year, we do not plan on returning. First, the person at the check in desk when we arrived was somewhat unpleasant and abrupt. At the time, I simply assumed that the attitude was the result of a long day. The second issue related to the in room small refrigerator. When we arrived, I put a bottle of wine in to chill but failed to note that the refigerator was not cold. When our friends came over for a glass of wine, I pulled out the bottle only to discover that the refrigerator had not been turned on. After searching for some time for the single ice machine on the property, I finally went to the bar and asked for a bucket of ice which was provided. The last straw was was the check out process. We were supposed to receive a $25 credit toward our bill for dinner. That did not happen but the person at the front desk happily corrected the mistake as soon as I pointed it out. My wife had a facial in the spa the previous day and, in response to a question from the spa manager, voiced some unhappiness at the service. Very kindly, the manager indicated that a reduction of $15 would be made for the $105 service. However, again, this credit was also not reflected in the bill. My wife then went to the front desk representative and was told that she would have to talk with the spa manager. Although the $15 was only 2% of our approximately $750 bill for room, food and other services for two days, it had now become a matter of principle. After waiting for several minutes for the manager, she was told that the $15 service credit would not be given because the original price of the facial had already been discounted as per their customary policy. Surprised by this response, since this was the very same person that had offered the $15 credit in the first place, we left, and, unfortunately, will not return. So the resort (which is very nice) gained $15 but lost a recurring customer.
The course was in excellent shape even though they has just finished the overseeding process. They only do one of the three nines at a time, so you always have a good 18 to play.
Tubac Golf Resort & Spa was a fantastic surprise. Lunch in Stables Restaurant was delicious and you can't beat the view of the Island Green and the Santa Rita Mountains. The Hacienda Guest rooms are my favorite. I'll be back.
What a quiet and comfortable place to visit. You can even see the stars at night. We stayed in a hacienda Suite facing the golf course. The director, Charlene Gallegos really knows customer service. The grounds are immaculate, the accomodations more than meets expectations with large jacuzzi tub in bathroom, wrap around showers and tons of terrazzo tile . Rent a bike and ride over to the nearby artist village of Tubac for a wonderful outing or just stay put at the resort and get a massage, etc. The Stables restaurant is very nice with great food choices and competitive pricing. Great views of the property from your table enhance your dining experience. The service is excellent with friendly and warm servers. There is music in the bar during the weekend. 8 couples are joining us on our return visit in December for an overnight stay at the resort and a tour of Tubac during the holiday festival when it will be lit up and have vendors, arts and crafts and food, food.
