The zoo is a hidden treasure of Toledo. If you can plan on visiting more than once a year. The Lights Before CHRISTmas are spectacular.
One of the top US Zoos in diversity, it's also one of the most compact. It can be enjoyed in it's entirety in one day but is probably better done over two so that you're not so rushed. Ample parking with just a VERY short walk to the gate and first exhibits. Historic zoo that is quite old but really expanded by the WPA in the 1930's and constantly being updated during the offseason. Check it out. Good for receptions or other types of gatherings, large or small, afterhours.
Always a good time! The winter is our favorite time to go to see all the lights. We don't miss a year, it is perfect for family time!
Great environment and animals. We thought out and very educational. Always a great day with the kids.
There will be new things to experience in the Spring, and we are looking forward to the renovations and new exhibits. We go several times a year, and it is a good place to enjoy with family and friends.
This is a Big,Incredible zoo in a small town. They have so much to offer! Green and Clean! Animals well taken care of by dedicated knowledgable staff! Always special programs going on. Definitely a "don't miss" gem!
I've lived in the Toledo area for almost 25 years. The zoo has been our "go to" place every year. The zoo has made consistent upgrades and has exciting things coming, ie-aquarium. The negatives-it's gotten too expensive. My husband and I visited on a friday and were able to get 1/2 off the adult charge of $17.00. Still had to pay parking of $7.00. Enjoyed the animals. They were very active and entertaining. All in all, a good day for $24.00.
It is a great place to send the day with children. There are so many different areas and each time I go. I see something new!
Great zoo for families in that entire zoo can be walked easily in a day by school-aged children, and the animals are by-and-large accessible rather then hidden in some dark corner of a cage where you spend most of your time looking to find the animal. Have pics of my grandkids sitting the only width of the plexiglass window away from polar bears, for example.
Spacious place to visit, just when I thought I was finished with the park, I keep finding another section to explore. Now this is March in the 30s, so a lot of the exhibit and animals weren't present, despite that, I spent over 3 hours learning and exploring animals from Flamingos to Orangutans to White Rhinos, plenty of indoor spaces for when it's really cold. Entrance is complimentary to veterans and active duty military, so take advantage of that as I did, but do give back to their various (and numerous) contribution boxes to wildlife conservation!
