The transport to the beach is either by open sided bus or private taxi. It is a relatively short bay and can get quite crowded near to the main entrance. As you get further along it becomes quieter but there are less beds to hire. The water can be a tad rough for bathing at times depending on the weather and tide.
This is a very pretty beach, and good for swimming. There are a lot of small restaurants strung along the beach, where the food is OK and very inexpensive in comparison to other restaurants on the island. These have sprung up in response to the cruise ship visits to the island. Buses and open transport vehicles take hundreds - nay, thousands, of cruise ship tourists to Cane Garden Bay each day, deposit them on the beach for the day and then take them back to the ships in late afternoon/evening. It's not a pretty sight. Seems like most of the cruise ship vacationers are obese and have skin like tanned leather. And they're everywhere! Skip this place unless you can find a time when the cruise ships are not emptying their hulls - I don't know when that might be.
Went as part of a cruise excursion. Nice clean beach. Plenty of places for food and drinks. I've been to Roadtown before but didn't venture from town before. Quite a ride to the beach. If you don't like roller coasters it may not be for you. Driver was knowledgeable, friendly and pointed out places of interest along the way.
Beachfront, great people watching, good food, great staff, get yourself "on island time". Kareem and Valerie, it was a pleasure to do business, at your restaurant, bar, and excellent shop. Looking forward to coming next season, for an evening of music! Heard that Blue's band from Chicago, was "the bomb"! Happy Days! Susie and Heinz
Very busy but beautiful bay with lots of little bars and plenty of cocktails with the Caribbean atmosphere to accompany!
Nice clean beach. Plenty of places for food and drinks. Interesting ride to the beach. Spread out from the drop off point to make the most of the clear blue sea.
Cane Garden Bay is a beautiful beach, surrounded with palm trees. You can find many bars where you can have drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. It's definitely a nice place to visit when you are in Tortola. The sea, the sunset and the palm trees really make it a special place.
this is a great little place to find a mooring ball and go ashore to relax. Live music at some bars. Also a good place to re-provision
Lots going on here if you want or just laze about on the golden sands and cold beers. Lively bars, great Caribbean atmosphere, warm water, gently shelving beach and lovely surrounding coastline.
Cane Garden Bay is a fun little town on the other side of Tortola from Road Town. There's a coned-off swimming area and there are many mooring balls. Be careful where you tie up. Your dinghy could drift under the dock and be crushed under it by a rising tide.We ate at a bar called Tony's, but there are plenty of places to eat and drink. Myette's is a good place to stay, if you're not sleeping on a boat. It's hard to beat going to sleep under the moon and stars, with the sound of a steel band and the water lapping around you.
