Didn't cost anything if you got coupon from library, but there is no tour guide. It is self guided. Located right by breakwall so plan time to walk out on that as well.
While it's not spectacular it's still worth a stop, if you are taking the north shore drive this should be on your list of stops. It's a lighthouse, not an amusement park so the kids weren't quite as impressed with it as some others might be.
One of the best parts of this visit were the deer roaming free on the grounds. Loved the view and the history here. Make it a stop when you are in town. There is a bed and breakfast there too which looked romantic.
Coming to Two Harbors and not checking the Lighthouse, adn the hitory inmersed in it? Well it is a nice review of history, well kept and mantained with the operating lighthouse.
The lighthouse is actually a B&B, which we did not stay in. You can get nice photos of the lighthouse, but there is a fence around it so you can't get too close or inside unless you're staying at the B&B. In the area you can watch lake freighters coming into dock.
Pretty red color but grounds were closed. We walked down around the breakwater but we were not too impressed with the property. The Iron Ore loading docks across the harbor were huge and we would have loved to see a ship receiving its cargo. Nice visit but not worth a return to that area.
This is another old lighthouse that has been restored with a small museum. It was interesting to see how things were "back in the day".
We enjoyed our stay. We chose the Skiff House because Marilyn doesn't do well with stairs. Jacuzzi was great. Each breakfast was very good. Cheryl and Rose added to the enjoyment with their knowledge of local history.
Just a great experience overall. This is what the area is all about guiding ships in the harbor , right? Fun gift shop and nice values, too. I think everyone that has visited has a picture of this Lighthouse!
Not worth the $9 admission fee. Couldn't spend more than twenty minutes walking through the lighthouse and out buildings, unless you take the guided tour. Even then, not a place to spend much time unless you want to hike the trails on the grounds.
