Best times of the year are Spring for the Azaleas and Rhododendrons and Autumn for the spectacular leaf colours.
The time to see these gardens at their best is in the Autumn (October). The glorious reds and burnished golds of the trees, reflected in the lakes, is a rare treat. As a National Trust member I try to go each year to take in the magnificent views. So very relaxing and therapeutic. After a leisurely walk around the gardens drop into the café for a well earned cuppa and slice of cake!
Great visit, fantastic gardens and walk round, magnificent in all seasons, the lakes well worth a stroll, good trails , fit legs needed
If you are a lover of lakes then you will love Sheffield Park. There is no house here to look at but the gardens have 5 lakes and lovely wooded walks.
Sheffield Park and Garden is a stunningly beautiful place at any time of year. Today we went in January and we saw snowdrops and such a range of different greens from the evergreens. The lake views are amazing and it is lovely to follow the little paths and cross the little bridges. The tea rooms are very atmospheric and we had a delicious leek and potato soup with good bread. There is also an interesting second had bookshop in the tea room. It is a gorgeous place to visit and makes me pleased to be a NT member. There are some areas which you can't reach with a wheelchair.
My husband, son and I decided to visit Sheffield park for an early morning walk on a crisp Sunday morning. We arrived just when the gates opened and found that we hardly met anyone as we followed the paths around the gardens. There were lots of interesting things to point out to my 4 year old who enjoyed hiding, climbing and running through the undergrowth. After over an hour we decided we needed some warming up and headed for the Tea rooms for some light refreshments. This was only the second time we had visited this part of the park as I was disappointed the first time. Unfortunately not much had changed on our second visit. As a Coeliac I am always curious on what provisions any public place makes for gluten free diets and have often been surprised with the offerings from some NT Tea rooms and restuarants. However I was stuck with just a coffee as there wasn't even a pre packed gluten free cake available to recharge my batteries. My husband and son had a snack each with a drink, but there wasn't a lot on offer all around and we didn't hang around for long.We will be returning to Sheffield Park in the future as it's beautiful and well laid out gardens are a must see at all times of the year, but we will be bringing snacks and a flask!
Love this place, any time of the year its beautiful. Love just to walk around - worth the NT fee just for this place
Sheffield Park and Garden, Just the job to relax and take in all wonderful scenery, have some food and drink, have been many times.
Owned by the National Trust. There is plenty to see especially in spring and autumn. There is a shop and restaurant. Plenty of parking
What a beautiful place. We enjoyed strolling around the lake and gardens absorbing the sights and sounds of nature. After a busy week at work what else could be better?!!!
