We went for a 2 hour tour on a Devil Boat with our two dogs. The pups loved the boat ride and so did we. Caddo Lake is beautiful, too bad about all the duck blinds set up in it. The cypress trees were a very pretty red and looked fantastic against a setting sun. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area. I would highly recommend getting out on the lake with Johnson's Ranch Marina
We took a Go Devil tour with Billy and my oh my, don't miss this. It's the way to go if you want a first-hand tour of Caddo Lake! Billy grew up on the lake and he knows everything there is to know about Caddo Lake and the Go Devil boat just zips around this lake without getting bogged down in the vegetation. We saw lots of great birds, blooming water lilies and toured the wonderful bayous with ease. It was so much more fun than a canoe or a pontoon boat or anything else for that matter. I would highly recommend this tour and it was a bargain since you've got Billy all to yourself to answer questions. It was great fun. Thanks Billy, we loved every minute!
Five 55 year old High School friends from Houston came to East Texas to visit and took the tour. Absolutely beautiful. I have never seen anything like it. Billy was great very knowledgeable and funny. Highly recommend everyone take a Go Devil ride in UncertIn,Tx
Our evening tour of lake was the highlight of our trip. Good job, Chaz -- our guide was knowledgeable and his love for the lake really shone through.
We had a group of friends come to the lake for the weekend. One of our highlights is to take the boat out for a leisurely ride. We make it a point to stop at Johnson's to get gas, a postcard, and a snack. Fun fact, right across the water is the house that was filmed in the opening credits of True Blood. The store is a unique little stop and people are super friendly.
We took a tour of Caddo Lake and our guide, Angie rocked! She was easygoing, laid back and very knowledgeable about the lake. You can see that being a guide is her passion. Love her!
We live on Caddo Lake and always stop by Johnsons when we are on the Texas side of the lake.It is relaxing to sit on the deck and admire the beauty of the area. Karen and her crew always make you feel welcome. Also they have gas pumps on the water ... the only ones I am aware of on Caddo.
Apparently Billy usually catches a lot of fish when he goes out. But when he doesn't, he gets frustrated. We always felt safe, WE were thrilled with the number of fish we caught, and the lake is beautiful, but for the money we spent, it would have been nice for Billy to treat our kids, novice fisherman, more kindly, and not chastise and berate them and the adults as well, while we were learning to cast and fish on Caddo Lake.
We did not camp here however we took the GoDevil tour with Billy. It was the last day of duck season. The weather and the waters were calm. A perfect day for a tour. Billy is very knowledgeable and he knows what he is doing. Felt safe and secure the whole way through. Now since nobody is around except the hunters our tour lasted way more than an hour. A lot of that was due to the fact that Billy owned about 20 duck blinds and he checked on them all. We didn't care ,we had a blast and we learned soooo much. I totally got turned around in the swamp. Easy to do cause everything looks the same. I wouldn't recommend doing this without a guide. Billy is a real treasure. I will recommend this tour to many coming your way. However.....be sure to bring plenty of cash. I wish I had it for a generous tip that he so deserved!!!! Looking forward to my next visit:-) :-)
Go devil tours...we took a daytime tour with Angie. She was very interesting with plenty of info about the history and ecology of the lake. The night tour with Chaz was great with his ghost stories, legends and alligator spotting. Fun time, as well as learned alot!
