Excellent staffExcellent winesExcellent food plattersExcellent settingWhat more could you want??
We stopped here for lunch and a few tasty wines. Food was delicious and wines matched. Nice boutique small wineries all within the one cellar door, just great range.
We dropped in at lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our stop. Wine tasting of some smaller wine producers, together with some tasty (albeit a bit overpriced) platters - made for a fun few hours. The outlook over the vineyard from the deck is lovely and the kids found a comfy spot with some books and toys inside. Well done!
Artisans is cooperative of small wineries in the Barossa displaying a range of unique wines from smaller producers with their unique style of wines. John Duval, with the Eligo, Hobbs with the Tin Lids to name just two of the cooperative members. Look this cooperative up on your computer. We had a most delightful and flavoursome lunch here.
We wanted to visit their Tasting Bar as there is a big selection of wines - Teusner, Sons of Eden, Spinifex, Massema, Hobbs and John Duval. When we arrived at 11am there were already several people there for tasting and lunch. The staff were friendly, patient and knowledgeable and told us the history of each of the wineries. They have some really lovely reds and if you place an order for $200 and over, shipping is free. There is a nice dining area inside next to the Tasting Bar and a comfy sofa. There is decked area outside with several tables, with lovely views of the vineyards. We also noticed that just off of the Bar there is a small seating area for parents and children. The toilet facilities are very clean. On the whole, this venue is very well designed.
When you first arrive on the deck . . . Wow! Views across the vineyards to the valley floor! Then comes the wine . . . Artisans is the cellar door for seven artisan winemakers, a huge variety of wines of all types. (Hint, try the Lola!)Sipping your favourite by the glass on the deck as the early evening sun goes down across the valley is amazing.
fantastic location overlooking the valley.Staff were 10/10 friendly, personal, attentive. Great range of reds- personally I prefer sweeter whites which were lacking- but do try the dessert wine! Open till 6pm daily (later than others!) - in winter would be great timing it with the sunset. Oh and venue was new, clean and with lovely new toilets.
Great view of the vine yards. Great wines and platters. Perfect weather, located close to tanunda and Angaston!!!!!!!!
Fantastic scenery, great food and excellent wines. What more could anyone want? Great way to spend an afternoon. Just note that if sitting on verandah the awning is wind sensitive so you can be sitting in pleasant shade then a gust of wind will have you sitting in blazing sun.
After biking over Mengler Hill this was a great spot to stop, enjoy the view, have a coffee and enjoy some amazing local wines. Brilliant.
