I got chills walking through the bunker complex. The rooms are set up in many cases just as they were 70 years ago; giant maps with markers for enemy fighters, original communications equipment that you can still touch/feel, etc. We walked through ourselves, but if possible I'd recommend a guide as the experience will be so much better. Nice little gift shop too, with a couple of specific books on the war in the Med that you might not otherwise find.
Dear johnofhornchurch,Thank you for the review of your visit to the Lascaris War Rooms, Your comment regarding its location is welcomed as we do try and ensure signage is as visible and accurate as possible, but as you so rightly say the site was a secret facility during the war. We are very pleased that you felt our guide was very good and that the attraction is in your words "Definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in 20th century history".
Dear bobsoundsgreat, thank you for the review of your visit to the Lascaris War Rooms, we have attempted to get a re-opening date for the National War Museum at Fort St Elmo from Heritage Malta as we would like to provide visitors with this information when we are asked, particularly because of the number of disappointed visitors who tell us about the museum being closed and lack of information. We are please that you felt our guide (Tony) was "full of interesting information and gave a real sense of what the island experienced between 1941<43". Thank you again for taking the time and trouble to post your review,

Dear Nicki97,Thank you for the review of your visit to the Lascaris War Rooms. We do try and inform visitors who come to the rooms via the steps down from Battery Street that there is an easier exit out to the Bus Station/Central Bank of Malta Annexe. Its good to read from your review that you felt the 1.5 hours you spent at the War Rooms was so informative. Thank you again.

Dear Steven H,Thank you for taking the time and trouble to review your visit to the Lascaris War Rooms. It good to get your feedback that the attraction is well worth a visit. It is also pleasing for us to hear you comments that "Tony is an excellent guide who gives all the information in a way that brings it truly home to those of us who were lucky enough not to have been around during WW2" Thank you again.
Dear Leila_70, Thank you for the review of your visit to the Lascaris War Rooms. I have to agree that sometime history classes at school could be "Hard Work" We are glad you found your visit "absolutely fascinating and thought provoking". Its also very pleasing to know that our guide was excellent and relayed the content of the tour in a very informative and passionate way. Its a pity that you were not in a position to take advantage of the discount and convenience offered by our Multi-site ticket particularly as your visited some of our sites. Thank you again for taking the time and trouble to review your visit.
If you are in Malta and decide to spend some time in Valletta then make this place one of your must do's. The entrance fee is 10 Euros each and in all fairness it is off the main part of Valletta but there are signposts but strangely didn't appear on my guide map. You are first shown a short film about malta's role in the second world war that was filmed at the time and helps bring the war rooms to life. After the film you are given a guided tour but a member of staff. The gentleman who showed us around was brilliant and so engaging. I did not get his name, which I am gutted about, but he was so engaging and even though their was a lot of facts and figures he still held your interest. The rooms are set out in the as they would have been at the time with maps and charts that were actually in use at the time and was rediscovered when the rooms were reopened after NATO had stopped using it. The rooms go back through time brilliantly and while they still have rooms that they are working on don't let that put you off. I can't speak highly enough of this place, but for me, the member of staff who showed us round was the star of the show. He was so full of facts and figures and information you could tell he enjoyed giving the tours and was a labour of love for him. Please please please if you are interested in Malta's role in the war especially the role they played in the invasion of Sicily then find time to visit this place, you will not be disappointed
