this is a nice place to go for a walk whether you are on a first date or the 100th. quiet neighborhood and the Main street Unionville which is a 5 minute walk, has plenty of good dining options. in the winter the pond freezes and there is part of it open to skating but it is not attended. so, don't go alone. If you go to Main street, try the old firehouse chocolate factory... there are many nice restaurants there too from Italian (El Postini) to steak, and even a fancy Indian restaurants. the Arms is a nice handout for the locals.
Toogood Pond Park is located near the heart of the town of Unionville with its many shops and dining establishments. From the parking lot you cross a bridge that straddles a dam that controls the water flow from the pond. Strolling along the perimeter of the pond you come across a varied shoreline without losing sight of the water. There is a broadwalk through a marsh area where you can view wetland habitat followed by a shoreline of weeping willows that drape over the water. A small pavilion with a viewing area oversees the pond offering a serene view of the complete area. Pairs of ducks emerge among the willow branches, flocks of geese float peacefully and what appears to be cormorants just silently mingle in the middle of the pond. There are Information boards that describe the habitat in and around the pond and a pier for fishing if you so desire. Benches are provided where you can rest and observe and absorb nature's beauty. As this is the fall season there is a myriad of colours that shine in the sunlight. This is a picture perfect pond within walking distance of the centre of town.
it is a quiet, relaxing and nature... Too ooo. Good pond.Great place to go for a walk. Especially in the summer...You can also try fishing... Lots of geese... Watch the geese poops
Great place to go on a hot summer day. Unionville mainstreet is 3 minutes away via foot, so there is plenty to see and do. Take a stroll around the park and witness some beautiful nature and scenary.
Lovely spot to take a stroll, walk your pet, or people watch. Better to come here during the weekdays because the weekends are just crazy busy.
The boardwalk on the western side crosses a quiet river that resembles a bayou. Total quiet. Fragrant
Too Good Pond is great anytime of year.In the winter: skate on the pond, take a walk through the trails along side and through the trees or sled with your little ones on the rise. Springtime brings the return of ducks/geese. Spot goslings, spring flowers and buds on the trees as you walkIn the summer: walk, fish, play "Pooh Sticks", stroll/jog on the shady trails through the trees, go bride spotting! Kick up some leaves in the Autumn/Fall. Top it off with a walk up main street for an ice-cream/coffee/tea/hot chocolate.(FYI there are washrooms open on weekends in the summer but at no other time - go to main street if you need facilities)
Toogood Pond is always a Nice break away from all the Markham traffic. The pond is so peaceful and the sound of the geese so relaxing. The paved trail is great for a walk or run.
Take a refreshing stroll around the pond especially during Autumn - the beauty is awe inspiring ! Park for all season. Want to have some Winter Fun, come on back again !!Hungry ? Relax and Soothe yourself in the quaint Village of Unionville.
Toogood Ponds is beautiful, with lovely plant life and wildlife (mostly geese) in the area. The pond itself is beautiful, and no matter where you go, as long as you are in the pond area you should be able to see the actual pond. They also offer skating in the winter, which is pretty fun. One of my favorite outdoor attractions in Markham.
