Located between New Hope and the Wash Xing Park, Bowman's Stone Tower commemorates the lookout hill Gen Washington used prior to launching his famous Xmas Eve Crossing of the Delaware River. Hike up and climb up the steps; wonderful long distance views of the valley.
Beautiful location. The panoramic view of Bucks County and the river from the tower is great if you go on a clear day.
Stunning views from top of tower. Admission fee $6 a person. I'd say it is worth it especially in the fall. Really did not explore park as it was getting late and wanted to check out other things in the area.
While this isn't actually a historic site it is close enough to them to make sure you visit it. The tower has a view of the surroundings that is beautiful year round but spectacular in the fall with the colorful foliage. There is now an elevator which makes the climb minimal except for the last 30 steps or so. Distaining the elevator, the hike up the steps let my calves know the climb was not appreciated. The guys in the ticket booth were very friendly.
You can walk to the top of the tower, which you often have to do when the elevator doesn't work. Really nice view from the top. Combine this visit with a trip to Washington Crossing park.
I have been coming here since I was a little kid, and I mean little kid. The views are amazing and I can almost hear my uncles talking and laughing as I look out over the views. Fall is my favorite time to come here, but its great winter, spring or summer also.
Worth the trek up to the tippy top! It's breathtaking this time of year for the foliage. Definitely bring a camera!
Starting when I was old enough to drive, back in 1956, I visited The Tower every few years until I began moving around the country and the world. Recently, I went back after a 30 year hiatus and what a change! First, I was delighted to find that an elevator had been added. The climb to the top was never that bad (at least for my younger self), but much appreciated now. The biggest changes were in the views from the top. Where there were forest canopies almost everywhere, there are now housing developments, with nicely groomed lawns and common areas and walking paths. There are new buildings on the far southern horizon and new clusters of stores and other commercial buildings closer by. The new safety railing makes picture-taking a little more difficult and doing a video pan impossible. But in spite of these minor annoyances, the tower still provides a breathtaking panorama of the central Bucks County river area and is well worth a visit.
its nice but they do charge to go to the top of the tower . you can see why they chose this for a look out . you can see for a very long way .
123 steps up so good exercise.....pretty view but over and done quick.......It is worth the time as the view is really very pretty. If you are claustaphobic...not so good.
