Great views. Saw flamingo, goats, iguanas and some scenic views. We did the shorter route through the park that took about 2.5 hrs. I can't imagine staying longer as you would get bored...we weren't diving today so we went out to see the sites. You must have a truck or 4-wheel drive vehicle or you won't make it.

But this hike is not for the faint of heart or ill prepared. Hiked to the top in about 45 minutes, fast pace, no stopping. You will need good shoes. The entire trail is rocky, last part is steep and exposed. Hot, make sure you bring at least a pint of water. Hike down takes almost as long. This is not the place to sprain your ankle. Views from the top are wonderful. Road through the park is quite rough, you will be going 20 km/h max. Don't rush it, enjoy the flamingoes, iguanas, desolate desert landscape.

Great hike! Beautiful view! Yes you should wear good shoes...not difficult just need the traction for the rocks...would do again!

Bring water! The hike takes approximately two hours from the trailhead to the top of Mt. Brandaris and back. The trail is well marked (look for yellow markings) and not too strenuous, but there are a couple of places where you must use caution when climbing on the rocks. In these places, its easier going up than coming down. You'll see birds, goats and lizards during your hike and some different trees & shrubs. Great way to spend your last non-diving day on the island. Bring water!

Aan het einde van onze derde duikvakantie op Bonaire is er altijd de 24 uur no fly tijd waar we van alles kunnen doen, maar vooral niet te dicht bij het water willen komen. (Zal willen blijven duiken)Nu toch eens besloten om het Washington Slagbaai park in gegaan en het hoogste punt van het eiland te gaan beklimmen.Goede schoenen en extra water en evt wat te eten is echt een aanrader.Nadat we beneden de auto geparkeerd hadden (en hier geldt ook, niks er in en zeker niet op slot) begonnen aan de beklimming.Het eerste stuk is een wandeling die vooral omhoog gaat, maar vanaf de voet vd berg ging het al klauterend omhoog.Een mooi uitzicht over Slagbaai, maar helaas is Kralendijk vanuit hier niet te zien.Het was ons eerste bergje wat we beklommen hadden, maar hebben toch vd uitdaging genoten.Het is aan alle gezonde bezoekers aan te raden, maar door de hitte toch wel een uitdaging.

Begin op tijd aan de beklimming en neem genoeg water mee. Het is een hele klim naar boven en voor onervaren 'hikers' misschien niet aan te raden. Het uitzicht op de top is fantastisch.
