I stay about 3 times a year and The staff is the best always there to help you out. The rooms are always clean and the outside area is just beautiful
We stayed in the sequel buildings - very clean and staff friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the paths for biking and/or walking. Did not get to play the course - but a free round for two was offered.
Attended a wedding here, very good location with a Marriott on site. If you live or want to get married in this area you should consider this location.
There are very few place that offer as many things to do and all within a very short drive to a major historic area and a kids park as well. Start with the accommodations, absolutely first rate. The grounds are beautifully kept as are the pools (2 outdoor and one indoor). There are many outdoor games and two very nicely equipped exercise rooms. Our apartment was spacious and as well equipped as our house. There are also outdoor grills for your use and enjoyment. There is even a small store that offers some surprisingly good sandwiches and needed items. A truly top of the line experience and that does not even conceder the wonderful historic attractions in the area.
We played the Blue Heron Golf Course. The course was in very good condition.Playing as a couple we usually play 18 holes in a little over 3 hours. However, this day we were behind a couple foursome that I believe we're in teaching mode, finally they let us go through after12 holes and we finished up in a little over 4 hours......getting a little dark trying to see the flag on 18.It didn't help that day though in that carts were only cart path only. They should have been at least 90 degrees to speed up play.
This was our 2nd visit to the Marriott at Ford's Colony. There were only 2 of us in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo. Furnishings are in the Williamsburg style and the condo even has a fireplace. It's about a 10 -15 minute drive to the Colonial area, which is where we usually head for dinner each night. Very nice and quiet place to spend a week.
stayed here for a week using a T/S exchange, several miles away from most of the Williamsburg attractions but a quality resort where you have activities if you want to be involved or they leave you alone if you don't the grounds are beautifully maintained
This review is about the golf course. We have played there several times and love all 3 courses. We did have one problematic round tho'. Our electric cart died on about the 12 hole. No marshals in sight so we had to phone the clubhouse. After waiting almost a 1/2 hour we phoned again. Finally someone came and we stopped our round after standing out in the cold for 45 mins. I noticed over several rounds that a number of carts died in the same way. Staff tried to tell me it was the cold. Nonsense!! Poor maintenance.
The restaurant is top end 5 stars. If you want to be treated like you are in the category of the rich and famous go to Fords Colony. The staff treats you wonderfully. They place your napkin on your lap, stand behind you and if something drops they are there to pick it up. The food is superb and delicious. Very expensive so be prepared and go for a special occasion as I did. The dessert tray is unbelievable. The meal took about three and half hours. No rush. Wine list is large and also expensive. It was worth it and I saved up for it. Make reservations as they bookup very fast. Hope this helps. David
Fantastic hotel experience. Lots of fun amenities and activities. Great value in a gorgeous resort. We plan to come back on our next trip to VA.
