We play here a few times a year, and every time is a welcome challenge. The property is well cared for and very beautiful. Prices are resort-appropriate and often discounts can be had in packages with the Wilderness Hotel complex. Not for the faint of heart, but always a good time.
I usually play golf here once a year. This course is very pretty with some really excellent holes to play. The greens are extremely undulated and difficult to putt if you find the wrong spot. This could make it very difficult the first time you play. It is one of those courses where once you finish a hole you look forward to seeing what the next hole looks like. I would recommend that you give it a shot while in the dells. It is better than all the others in town for sure. One negative is that you spend around 90 bucks to play and they make you hit off of mats on the range. REALLY???? I would expect that at a lower priced facility. Every time I have played here we were on the mats.
Club house is set up very well. Pro shop through the front entrance, then head through the bar and pick up drinks for the course. Continue through and your clubs are ready for you on the cart. Course condition was excellent, staff was very helpful and overall course layout was good. Great value for your money.
My husband used their range, he didn't really play. But he mentioned several times, how impressed he was with the facility.
I loved this course. The views were amazing and the layout was challenging, but not so challenging that an average golfer felt like they couldn't have fun. I'm not a very good golfer, but the course was open enough that you had room for mistakes. The greens were very challenging, but it made the course fun.Service was outstanding. I rented clubs and got a newer set of Taylor Made clubs. The carts all had state of the art GPS and scoring systems and the beverage carts made their way around multiple times despite the course being full. All in all, the value, scenery, and challenge makes this course a must if you are a golfer and in the area.
We did the family course, it was great and reasonably priced as well. The staff was super friendly and the course was beautiful!
Having the choice of 9 or 18 worked out well for my husand & our son. Little pricey but it is a professional course.
We have golfed here now for several years and it is a great course. The family course is the way we go and there is something for all of us. Not to mention it's beautiful!
probably the nicest course in the Dells. We had a group that played both here and Trapper's Turn. Wild Rock is a better course for less money, thus a better value. Don't get me wrong, Trapper's Turn was very nice, but Wild Rock was a better layout, better pace of play, and better condition. The greens were fast but true. Needed to repair many balls marks on the greens but you need to expect that on a resort course. The worst thing they had going for them was the 5 tee boxes all had tee markers that were some shade of brown. The slight difference in color could make you crazy, but they put a special marker on the middle tees to help you recognize which tee box you should hit from in relation to the middle tee box. Not sure why they don't use the standard Black, Blue, White, Gold and Red but if that's the worst thing I can think of, the course was pretty darn good.
Our foursome makes an annual outing to the Dells area to play the different courses. Wild Rock is our favorite. The course has always been in good shape, greens are usually fast and true, speed of play has rarely been a problem. There are some tough holes but I think this adds to the experience. We are a pretty low maintenance group but when we have needed something the staff has been very attentive. Couple of "good to knows" 1. the turn from 9 to 10 is about a mile away from the clubhouse so dont expect to grab something to eat at the turn unless the grill is going which from my experience is rare. 2. Try the stay and play package at the Wilderness, four people can stay two nights, play two rounds and enjoy two lunches (not just a crummy hot dog) all for about $200 a person. We will keep coming back to Wild Rock.
