Definitely recommend a stop at this winery if you are doing the PEC wine trail. The wines are excellent and staff very helpful.
We had a wine tour for my mother-in-laws birthday. Kalro Estates was our last and best stop, all thanks to Lindsay. She knew all her wines and answered every question in great detail! She had a fantastic personalitiy and made us all feel very welcome. We all enjoyed our tour of the winery and loved the wines. We hope to be back soon! !
We visited the County for the day and Karlo was stop 4. The tasting area was cosy and inviting. Our host Craig was excellent. The service was top notch. The pairings and the wines were perfect. The grounds were nicely kept. Their rose and dessert wine were delicious. Great overall experience.
First off, you have to drive to the side of the barn, walk across grass and go in the back door, all of which was less then impressive...but then... get ready for the best wine tasting experience by far in PEC !!!First off you get to sit down... and at a long beautiful hand crafted wooden bar and we were lucky to have Craig who did a great job explaining the history of the winery and helped us select which wines to taste. And the ONLY winery (and we visited many) to offer food pairings so that one may fully appreciate the wine!!Also, one of the very few doing great work with reds, their Merlot is very good and their Quintas blend was stellar. If you only visit one winery in PEC, this is the knee, the tasting experience is far above the average!!And just walking distance from the Newsroom Suites, very handy, also a great place to stay!
We enjoyed a wine tasting session with a friendly knowledgable server. Karlos Winery has some unique grape varietals and excellent port. We are going home with the white port. Also, well worth the short wonder to see the dry stone bridge. Beautiful old barn and a warm welcome from Shari. Well worth the stop on the county wine tour.
This was our second experience with wine tasting on our trip to Prince Edward County. The old barn had been turn into a lovely shop & tasting bars. We chose the outside bar. Our server was very knowledgeable & pleasant to talk to. Each wine we tasted was accompanied by a small portion of food, i.e. olives, nuts, spiced wasabi peas, etc. We had a sip of wine, a bite of food & another sip. The food enhanced the flavour of each wine. It was a very interesting tasting. Good choice of wines.
One of the best wineries I've been to! The fortified wines are to die for!! And Liza took incredible care of us. This place is a MUST visit! Not only are the wines incredible, but the ambiance, service and setting are worth driving to PEC!
A favorite in our group of wine enthusiasts! Great selection of wines. This winery does wine pairings and they do it well. The property is beautiful and would make for beautiful pictures for a family or a wedding party. Staff was wonderful. A truly enjoyable experience.
Popped in here on the recommendation of friends and it was a wonderful experience. During the wine tastings you'll get a rather unique food pairing (try the Frontenac Gris Rose with Wasabi peas). The old barn that serves as the tasting house is incredibly nice. Wines are very good, a tad on the higher end of the price scale $24-$35, but you may well find the, worth the price. Nothing made here you'll find at the LCBO. Make sure you go for a walk in the vineyard and cross the arch bridge designed and built by the owner. A great experience with lovely wines, nice settings and everything a good winery should be. We'll be back.
Thank You Craig for the wonderful presentation experience - The Best in 'The County' by far!The winemaking is creatively innovative! We will be sure to stop by during our second visit to PEC!
