Went to Jokers today for my Grandsons birthday party. The place was filthy and the food was way overpriced for what you get. Trash all over the floors in the back eating area. The woman's bathroom was disgusting with overflowing trash, un-flushed toilets, and paper towels on the floor. Ironically there is a posting that says they take pride in keeping the bathrooms clean! I watched at least two staff members walk through the areas and never pick anything up- unbelievable. I stopped on my way out and spoke to the manager. He said he would take care of it, but I left.
It was do dirty! The bathroom was disgusting, the floor was wet (imagine of what). The games were old and sometimes damaged!!! It was a rainy day and it was packed ??? Guess there is not much to do for kids in Portland. Better off to go to the kids museum...
Well, i really liked it the first time and i still like it. We had to wait until thursday to go to Jokers (one week vacation to OOB). There was nobody but us, sometimes i wonder if there is people going there but if i read reviews it seems that it's a yes. Parking was full of trucks of Warner Cable, if i hadn't been there once i would have thought i was in the wrong place. The guy who was there was really nice. Yes there are renovations but it as okay, kids can still use the playground and feed the machines with tokens (god they like that !). It was a really nice two hour spent and next year i will come back (even if i still have the feeling that it will close for good a day or another).
Ok, when it rains you have to have some backup plans when on holidays with three kids (3, 5 and 7 years old). Reviews for Joker's are pretty bad... but today it rained that bad and i have already been to portland children museum so i took a chance. For the very big playground it is really cheap (5 dollars each child) and adults don't pay. It was clean (hint hint, as the restrooms) and the playground is great, kids had a lot of fun. There are big videos games too like sega car games or off road. It brings back memories. 20 twenty dollars for 90 tokens it was rather cheap to me. We earned a lot of tickets (beware it can be addictive it looks like a lottery and the prizes are bad, but, well, it's fun for us). Staff is... well, smile is an option, but, well, i don't care, the ratio price we pay/fun we had was great enough.
We attended a Birthday Party at Joker's for my son's friend turning 8. It was okay. The Pizza was a bit over cooked and greasy, but the kids seemed to like it. They only serve soda and my kids do not drink carbinated beverages, so they could only offer water. Some of the games did not work and no signs stating they were out of order so we lost coins, complained and the staff just shrugged. They place was CRAZY busy! parking was ridiculous, and they had it all ripped up and blocked off due to construction and a car show or something else going on at the same time in the additional lot. The party was in the back room, but we were among 4 other Birthday parties, and kids kept getting confused and ending up eating, drinking and taking things from the wrong party tables (lack of parental supervision was rampant) This was NOT my idea of a fun time. The kids seemed to have fun but lots of out of control kids and no real supervision of any kind. We had to wait or go find employees to help since it seemed like they all were hiding out in the back room, kitchen or behind the registers. The staff was not very friendly, but truth be told I do not think I would be able to be positive working at this place either. It also was not extremely clean, had to toss out my kids socks when we got home! My younger son also got stuck in the maze (over sized gerbil tube thing) and it was almost impossible to get to him, salmon swimming against the stream of children impossible, plus I am not petit nor extremely flexible so I got stuck like the fat kid in Willie Wonkers tube. Fingers crossed won't have to go back anytime soon.
- Dirty- Unorganized- 1/2 games do not work- Gave them 17 tickets they said I has 15- Too expensive Owner should eather close the place or look into places such as Pojos and do some major remodeling and managing!
Great place to take your children. The big play place is a great way for your children to have fun. There is only one way in and it is also the exit. You don't need to worry about your children wondering away. The video games actually paid a good amount of tickets. The kids had a great time and look forward to going back.
Its a GREAT rainy day activity for the kids. They WILL have hours of enjoyment. It IS a little on the pricey side but so isn't EVERYTHING they make for kids! I have been taking my children here for years. Back in 09-2010 it was definitely NASTY! I do notice it is a little cleaner in the last couple years but STILL COULD REALLY USE BETTER UPKEEP! ((Just stick your head through the doors..IT SMELLS LIKE AN OLD SWEATY GYM LOCKER, maybe thats to be expected though)) The poeple who call it "CLEAN" must not live very clean lives as that is the last thing I would call it. I wouldnt call it nasty either, but the few times I have been I have NEVER ONCE seen anyone disinfecting anything. The corners and underneath things looks atrocious. Probably because they do tend to hire teenagers who really could care less. There are enough of them around though that there is always someone to help you (even though they aact like you are bothering them) I would too say only about 3 or 4 games did NOT work and MOST DONT GIVE MANY TICKETS. Maybe 2 or 3 so dont expect your 3 or 4 year old to get much for prizes (you've got to be REAL good to get anything worth it) ALL the times I have been...Never dared try the food....it just looked so nasty..and expensive. Compared to chuck e cheese the ONLY thing better is the size and the fact that there ARE RIDE ON RIDES. Otherwise Chuck E cheese is FAR CLEANER (like you dont feel like you have to dip your kids in disinfectant when you leave), the food actually looks appetizing, they also send GREAT email discounts making chuck e cheese actually MUCH cheaper if you sign up for their email list. Try jokers for yourself..if your not an absolute neat freak you may not find it THAT dirty, it IS meant for sticky little kids anyways, and the kids will SURELY HAVE A GREAT TIME REGARDLESS
I took my granddaughter and the place was a MESS the bathrooms obviously hadn't ben cleaned from the night before! I was there when it opened the next day! It was disgusting!!!! I would never take her again! I have NEVER been to a place more disgusting than this!!!
This place was perfect for the first day of our rainy vacation. The place was very busy, yet we didn't have to wait for any rides. It is very well organized. Its great for children of any age.
