This past Sunday, we visited the Majestic AGAIN. We go often We saw Freddy Maron--sp?--and "Friends" of Dan Kane.Great musical variety show! We've never been disappointed in a show at the Majestic, thus far. There isn't a single "bad seat" in the house! We had a lunch in the Majestic Cafe (Chicken Salad Sandwiches on rolls, pickles, chips, and a glass of white zinfandel. Menu varies, and there are also offering of cheese/grapes/cakes, etc. We'll be going back for several other shows during the upcoming season, and we always enjoy our visits and the shows.
We have had season tickets for years, and have enjoyed many great shows at the Majestic. I wish we had more time to attend some of the summer events. Nice, cozy, theatre in a convenient location.
I have been a subscriber for several years . It 's a renovated movie theatre where the seats are all a level above each other so you don't have to move your head back and forth to see the actors. The plays are superbly performed and I always look forward to the set design . But best of all, going to the Majestic does not break your budget. There is a small cafe which sells beer and wine and you can bring these into the theatre once the play has begun. There is plenty of street parking around the theatre as well.
West Springfield has no colleges in it, just near it. Its downtown is not a magnet for anything but going to the PO or library. But the Majestic has managed to stay afloat for quite a few years with an eclectic program of current and classic plays. This year I am determined to call in time for their annual St. Patrick's Day Celtic music nights on a Monday and Tuesday when the theater is dark.
Not a bad seat in the house, this quaint local theater has so much charm. You start the night in the foyer having a glass of wine or some food, then you go into the theater which does not have a lot of seats so you really feel connected to the performers. Everything I have seen here has been entertaining and quality oriented. I would highly recommend this theater to see a great local play or performance.
We have seasons tickets and we have enjoyed every play we have attended. The acting is always very good to great. The theater is small and accommodating. The plays range from comedy to dark drama with some quality musicals thrown in. For a thought provocative evening of entertainment and fun for adults I highly recommend it. The only draw back is the limited parking.
I just brought my daughter to a 2nd show of the Majestic Children's Theatre this summer. The set up is excellent - every seat has a good view (we haven't had any problems with sight even sitting behind an adults), reasonably priced child-friendly snacks and drinks, the acting is fabulous (done by high school age), and meeting the cast after for their autographs in the program is a great addition. Alice in Wonderland was a little confusing for my 3 year old, but she still loved it and loved Tiny Thumbelina more. I highly recommend.Park in the back of the CVS lot across the street - there are signs on the doors when you enter the theatre, but I didn't see anything mentioned on the website so I had parked on the street and had to move on my first visit.
They are a blend of equity and non-equity local actors. They do musicals particularly well and sometimes have trouble with drama. Sets are usually very well done. Come early for soup and sandwich, wine, etc (menu is on line).
The plays are great - a wide variety - especially well acted. And they keep improving things. Next up is a "state of the art" theater. I thought it already was, but I guess not, I'm excited to find out what that means. You can go a little early and have dinner. You can bring your wine, popcorn into the show, as long as you bring out what you bring in (from their food counter), and the food changes with each play, they try to match the food to the current production, as well as the art they sell by local people - anything from knitwear to jewelry to wall art - pocketbooks, etc. It truly is worth a visit or two - become a subsciber - you won't regret it.
This local community theater offers a wonderful evening of drama, laughter, mystery, and entertainment depending on the play being presented. It has the best of both worlds - small local setting with a very professional style presentation. The Majestic Theatre does not disappoint. It will be time well spent. I highly recommend that you check them out.
