I love this unique and old heritage. We spend 3 hours in this village. Every single cottage has a different displays inside. So many old and antiques collections you can buy though it is quite expensive. All the people who work here are all from local and volunteers. $5 entrance fee is not too bad. Is just fare to pay so they can maintain the facilities. Good for family and friends to have a picnic in the ground. It is worth to visit. Love the place.
I remembered this place when I was a child and only when we decided to have a day out in Windsor did we come across it and I remembered it existed. What a great place for families with kids to visit.. $15 for the family entry fee, bring a picnic and enjoy the great surrounds. We were all interested in the history of the buildings and well done to the people who volunteer to keep this unique place going. There was a sheep shearing demo with old clippers, showing how laundry used to be done on wash board, old houses fully transported and in original condition.. A real eye opener for kids to see what life used to be like and fun horse and carriage rides, train rides and jumping castle. Chickens and baby goats and old bushman swags set up in the fields. Just go to windor and across the bridge and about 5 Kim's after that turn right!! Highly recommend and encourage you to go if you want a good day out in Sydney with the kids and interesting for adults too.
How great that someone made an effort to keep this pioneer village as a memory of the early settlers. I enjoyed viewing the historic artifacts that were kept. You feel like you are walking in a small town 100 years ago. The people in the "Tea House" (tea, "aussie" damper or scones, cream and jam) were friendly and a pleasure to meet. I look forward to going there again.
Really great place to commemorate the pioneers of Australia. Many attractions for everyone with carriage ride being the best of them IMHO. Mini rail also strongly recommended. If only someone sponsored the place, it could be even more attractive than it is.
This a great place to go with family and friends. You can take a picnic plenty of room to run around. Entry fee is only 5 dollars and for what u get in return is a lovely experience of old times. There is two cafés, one that sells lovely scones and damper and great cappuccino! You can take a quick visit and go for half a day or spend the whole day. They only open weekends and check there website for special events. We went on the horse drawn carriage, little fire engine and tiny train for additional small fee but didn't mind paying as it's all run by volunteers and they have so many stories to tell. The kids enjoyed the lolly shop and the old man and lady that sheared a sheep. Worth a visit!
Terrific value, $5 adults, wonderful picnic grounds, historical but fun, $3 for Clysdale Horse & Carriage rides... try the devonshire tea fantastic..
I have nothing but GREAT things to say about this place. All the workers were awesome an the property itself WOW! Completely blew away all my expectations and the history alone...... I actually felt as though I had gone back in time. Will definitely be back and I HIGHLY recommend the damper and billy tea :)
Great day out! But very hot in the middle of summer! Lots of nice touches, volunteers dressed up in old-style clothing, and fascinating glimpse into pioneer living. Enjoyed the woodwork demonstration, wool spinning, and learning about the history of the area.
We hadn't visited since it first opened and were pleasantly surprised on visiting today for the 100th WW1 re-enactment/displays. Affordable for families (unlike at lot of places) at $5 for adults. Excellent picnic facilities, train rides and great displays in authentic buildings. Check upcoming themed events. Food was excellent and very cheap, $2 ice-cream cones - wow! Wonderful damper, scones and lamb shanks cooked in a 100 year old oven. Friendly volunteers, lots of parking. Great day out.
This place is fantastic and it was a great place to visit on Australia Day. Buildings were great. Staff was great It was a very Australian cheap day out. Only regret was that I wish I had bought a packed lunch , as the food venues were packed and the delays were long. ( 40 minutes for Hot chips) Would definitely revisit on a quieter day though
