The golf course has been markedly improved with many trees taken out and greens that are fast and true. I was really pleased at the conditions. The clubhouse was also very good in its decor and overall state. Considering the price to play a round there, it is Great value!!! hence my 4 stars.
This past spring we visited my sister-in-law and her husband who live in this lovely and friendly gated golf course community. My brother-in-law is a passionate golfer so the proximity of their manufactured home to the golf course and club house is ideal. When we first arrived we were given the grand tour in the family golf cart, which is the main form of transportation within the community and were introduced to their many friends. Apparently when you pass by another cart you’re expected to wave hello; they like to keep things friendly here. Most of the snowbirds had flown north for the summer, making it easier to get a cooler tee off time on the golf course. My sister-in-law and her husband are happy living within the Continental Country Club community, but Florida retired life isn’t for me or my wife, at least not yet.
Continental Country Club is tucked away just outside the newest Village Town Center - about 2 miles. It is filled with beautiful old trees, and hanging Spanish moss, there are lakes, swamps and trails to explore. The wildlife sightings are astounding. It is a quiet place where walking and biking are easy - very little traffic. To add to the charm of the place there is a championship golf course and excellent restaurant and lounge. We love the pool.My family visits relatives who live in the park every spring. It's always our goal to never leave until the last day!
My grandparents moved there in 1983 and lived there until 2000 when he passed away. We visited them every year. Such a wonderful place. I always said I wanna live there. I hadn't been to Florida since 2000 until last year. We stopped by to show my little boy where they lived, only wish I could of showed him their house on magnolia lane. I Love it there so peaceful. Rode my Bike one time from gate to their house and my dad and I would ride to the lake and all around and my grandparents golf cart, so many memories. One day I'll be back :-)
As it happens, I live in Continental Country Club. And while "Bad Manners" managed to knock the rating down from a 4 1/2 to a 3 1/2 with her review, I must take exception to the broad brush she used. Now if the ranger was out of line, that is not right, but to then say that everyone who lives and works there is "obnoxious" is way out of line and over the top. That outing was booked with conditions! They knew the conditions going in, and did not like it when they were enforced! And just because she was in a "Group" gave her no special rights. If you are playing slow, the ranger has the right to wave a faster group through. I am wondering how she interacted with the people who "live there" that caused her to be appalled and "DISGUSTED???" I recommend you take this "Hissy fit" of a review with a grain of salt, and come to Continental Country club and have a wonderful time, but rules are rules!!!
they have a friday night all-you-can-eat fish fry, and can have the fish broiled, blackened, or fried. I've had it each way. It is decent, but the last time we were there, the waitress cleared our plates without asking if we wanted more fish. she was also very slow, although she was busy. one of our men sat with his pepsi glass empty for 20 minutes. nice atmosphere. mostly sandwiches and salads, but also pizza (not spectacular) and some entrees.
we were a party of 8 and there was only one waitress working the entire room. she was really busy with all the other diners and adding 8 more was a strain. she did a good job under the circumstances. the food was just okay and not hot.
The Golf Course is the best kept secret in Florida! Bring your straight tee ball with you though, or spend a wonderful day among the "MOSSY Live Oaks!!" Don't let the 6,600 yards fool you! The Friday nite fish fry was awsome!
I have lived a CCC for 12 years. I also worked in the golf club for 11 years.CCC is a wonderful community with caring people and great atmosphere. The golf course is one of a kind...old Florida style...with trees and ponds. I never get tired of playing at this course! New exercise room and library in the works. If you are tired of the hectic pace of the Villages, give CCC a look!
Diane, our waitress, is wonderful & attentive & efficient. They are fortunate to have an employee like her. The food was much better this time too.
