Williamsport's Community Arts Center is a small city gem. One does not have to travel to the big cities to get a variety of first rate enjoyment.A beautiful, classic venue, staffed by knowledgeable and courteous volunteers, the CAC provides a variety of enjoyable entertainment throughout the year. From the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra to Broadway shows ("Chicago" was terrific last year), to comedy, to homespun Americana (Garrison Keillor is here in August), to music (The Beach Boys, Diana Krall, etc.), to a variety of Holiday shows, and more, this is the place. It's not Broadway, but it offers something for everyone.
Nice lounge upstairs before the show, great acoustic quality for orchestra performance. Seats are just big enough but can be a bit cozy. Wish the staff had stopped the front row couple from getting up and dancing every other song--soooooo distracting from the musical performance. Building architecture is gorgeous and a classic theater atmosphere. Will return for future events even though it's 100 miles away from home.
Concert was over the top, great entertainment. They played ALL of the favorites, never missed a beat.
Loretta's show was awesome! The CAC is a great place to see shoes. Really not a bad seat in the house. Only complaint is the seats are really crammed tight. Not much room to move.
We are very blessed to have this amazing venue in such a small city, and the level of talent that they attract is rather amazing. Having been raised outside NYC, and exposed to Broadway rather regularly, this venue comes close, without the expense and hassles of the city. Highly recommend you look them over, before driving 2-3 hours to a larger venue to see live shows.
Just saw Blue Man Group show at Community Arts Center in Williamsport PA. There was a very energetic & receptive audience in this magnificent restored theatre. Fun time was had by all.
The theatre is a gem, and if you plan your trip well in advance you can even see some quality acts. If you're in town, it's certainly worth a visit, but if what's showing is a local production, you may be a bit disappointed, as the local talent barely rises to the level of a good high-school performance.
The building was amazing, very old, interesting, unique, the staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. They were nice enough to warm me when I ordered tickets that there is no leg room in the balcony seats, they weren't kidding!! For what you pay and the convenience that it's right here in Williamsport, I think it's a good value for your money, depending on if the event interests you. I attended the Masters of Illusion show and this week I am attending the Behind the Myths - Myth Busters Live Tour.
I liked the fact that it was within walking distance of a lot of other things in town. Shows vary and seems to be something for everyone. Only thing I didn't like was the ability to upgrade a ticket. If you find a seat better than the one you had, you have to pay full purchase price. I'd like to see some type of exchange set up.
My intention was to follow my much-loved band, KANSAS. But the venue was a real gem. Staff was pleasant and professional. The setting was gorgeous, and the acoustics were perfect. As a solo traveler, I sometimes feel threatened, but not here. Interestingly, the adjacent couple was there for a CAC subscription . . . a novelty for a rock-concert groupie.
