Hired bikes here to do the magnificent orange trail bike ride. Wow - what an incredible facility for cyclists. The bikes provided were solid - choice of road or hybrid.
Had a great time riding a bike. The trail is very well marked and plenty ofresting places and great stations. We are senior citizens and it was doable for us.
The service is very good. The price also. The trail is one of the trail that I have seen in my life. Weather was also perfect. At end of two hours (I'd like to have more time), I said to myself: what a place!!! Thanks everybody from West Orange Trail Bikes and Blades for the great service and thanks Orlando to have such good trail.
We were so delighted to find this place since we didn't want to haul our bikes from IN to FL. They have Raleigh bikes which are comparable to ours at home, although both my husband and I had issues with the axles and had to return three both times we rented. Otherwise the bikes are in great shape. One of the staff said they had been having issues with the bikes even though they are replaced annually. The staff were very helpful and set the bikes up for us almost exactly as we needed them. They didn't give us a hard time when we returned the broken ones either. We rented by the hour and they charged us in increments of .5 hours which was great. It is a very busy place so I would advise you call ahead to check availability -- they told us that they would only reserve bikes for an all day charge. The shop is located in a park with playground equipment, picnic tables, and a pavilion. There is overflow parking east of the park but you have to walk at least a half mile to get to the bike shop.We would definitely recommend this place, however if there are no bikes for rent there is a new bike rental in downtown Winter Garden (farther east on the trail) that we were going to check out but the weather turned cold and damp so we didn't make it.
Very nice bike, equipped with everything I needed. They bent over backwards to deliver to me at the airport and return there. Highly recommend.
Rented a bike from Bikes & Blades this past week. Ethan was very helpful. I had called the previous week about the availability of clip-in pedals and was told that they did have a set of SPD clip-ins. When I got there I found that the set they had were OLD and wouldn't hold the clips very well. Ethan was apologetic and did his best to help out.The good: 1) convenient to major roads.2) good location (West is hilly, yes in central Florida there are hills. East is flatter)3) Friendly serviceThe not so good:1) LATE opening during the week.2) No clip-in pedalsIf you are just out for a nice ride, this is the place for you. If you are a serious biker and want to clip-in, I suggest Winter Garden Wheel Works (101 Plant Street) which is a full service bike shop.
Well plesently suprised a good day out from the parks. Can get busy on weekends and holidays then there are no bikes available would advise if there are a few of you to phone ahead and book the bikes. Bikes are of good quality and renewed every year. Road bikes, comfort bikes tandems recumbent bikes. Trail is easy to follow and shaded in most areas. Fairly flat well no mountains Ha Ha. Nice to see the old colonial type looking houses. We stop on way back at winter gardens old town and have coffee or tea. All cars you meet are very courtess and residents appear to give way at all times to the bikes. Well worth a visit. Don't forget what ever those miles you ride out you have to ride back so don't over do it. Martin
My Husband and I were looking for something new to do for Date Day. We visited West Orange Trail Bikes and Blades to rent Bikes and head out for some time on West Orange Trail. We spent an hour and a half out on the trail and it cost under $20 for both of us! We had a great day as there is beautiful scenery and places to stop and rest on the trail. We went up to Winter Garden and took a rest by the fountain. We already have plans to go back and explore more of the trail. The trail is part of the Rails to Trails effort and is really cool to ride on! We haven't tried, but we also hear that it is a great place for Geocaching.
A great way to get away from the crowds and expense of theme park Orlando. We hired 3 bikes from the pleasant young man and rode them from Killarney to Winter Garden - seeing some normal America on the way, instead of hotel suites and gated communities.Winter Garden is a small, charming village full of independent shops and cafes, with not a chain store in site. A great place to have lunch or a coffee. Our cycle back coincided with the local Middle school end of day - great for us, as overseas visitors, to see the ubiquitous US yellow school buses leaving in convoy. The bike path is very wide and has long stretches where you can easily freewheel - you defintely don't need to be fit to cycle this route. All in all a great day out - highly recommended
This is one of the only bike rental shops that opens early on weekends and holidays to beat the heat. We showed up before 8am and got the only tandem they have. They had plenty of other comfort bikes. The shop is simple and the prices are great. Pay upon return, so no rush to keep track of time. The facilities from the shop until about two stops after Winter Garden are nice (parks, flush toilets, water). After that it gets more rugged. Winter Garden is the only town you'll bike through with lots of places to eat. Very popular post-ride for road bikers. Nice trail and worth the outing.
