Quite imposing when you drive up upon it. Wish the tower was open as I'm sure it would have a wonderful view. Gorgeous grounds - nice for walking or picnicking.
I love this little castle and the history that goes with it. Quiet neighborhood. Very peaceful vibe. We were the only folks here so got some great pics. Great find on my way to Springfield from Boston. Glad I stopped. Totally worth it. Only wish I could've gone in it.
What a fun attraction the Bancroft Tower in Salisbury Park turned out to be. We were fortunate to have a beautiful fall day -- sunny and cool. As it was a Sunday in October, we were able to actually go all the way up in the tower. What a fun experience! We got to see some beautiful views of fall foliage. We were four adults visiting and thoroughly enjoyed it, and there were several families with small children and even a Boy Scout troop what seemed to be having a very good time, as well.
Visited the tower on a Friday in October. This is located in a residential neighborhood so obey all posted speed limits and watch out for the Speed Bumps! Plenty of parking seeing how we were the only ones there. The tower was locked so we could not explore inside. The exterior is picturesque. Take some photos and walk around the property.
Not really much to see here but it is still kinda neat to visit. Takes about 5 minutes to walk around and might be a good spot to stop at while passing through or for a picnic perhaps.
Small part with a "tower" on top of the hill. Tower would be more interesting if it was open, but it's not, so it's just a fake tower in not very clean park with no view due to the trees.Tower itself is nothing in comparison to Irish castles. If you want more stuff like that, come visit Ireland (or pretty much any other European country).
Even though I moved to Worcester 6 years ago, I did not find out about Bancroft Tower before last fall. It's located in one of Worcester's finest old neighborhoods with many gorgeous turn of the century houses on Bancroft Tower Road.Check this out: https://www.google.com/search?q=bancroft+tower+worcester+ma&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=FFECUtWlO9G84AOc8oGYCA&ved=0CDUQsAQ&biw=1163&bih=797Bancroft Tower looks very European, almost like a castle tower.Even though Bancroft Tower seems to be very old, it was built only 113 years ago to honor George Bancroft, an American historian and statesman from Worcester. You'll find more in Wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bancroft_TowerIf you'll ever come to visit Worcester, don't miss this fascinating tower on top of a hill in Salisbury Park. It's close to one of Worcester's busy roads, Park Avenue. Bring your camera!
Nice place for a quiet picnic, walk, photos, or yoga. Not much to see. Tower is closed because of interior vandalism. Used to have good view of city, but trees have over grown & blocked most of view.
This is a hidden gem in a beautiful neighborhood in Worcester. I would have never thought I'd find something like this sitting atop the hill. The grounds are very well maintained and there is parking for about a dozen cars. It's a quiet place to take a picnic or just hang out under the trees. The stone work is remarkable. The tower is sealed off by iron gates and a door. It's sad that this can't be opened to the public and that vandals have ruined access to the inside of the tower to the rest of the public. It's a great place to take your kids, and get your portrait with a stone tower for a back drop.
I love this place. I find it very peaceful and relaxing. I run here and do yoga and sometimes just lay around and read a book. The view of the city in the winter at night is very nice. The leaves obscure the view at other times of the year .
