Great place to visit if your a NASCAR fan. There is a lot to see and you have plenty of options for all ages. My only advice is if you want to do the simulator go there first. The line gets really long. But over all it was a great experience. Definitely worth the visit.
I liked it ok. I am not a race car fan so I am sure those who are would enjoy it a whole lot more but it was an interesting place. It had some hands on things you could do and a lot of race cars to look at. Interesting Place.
Here are 4 things I did not like about this place:1. Costly2. Crowded3. Lots of stuff to stand back and look at behind glass4. If you're with people who don't give a flying tire about cars, racing or nascar, they will be absolutely bored out of their everliving skulls and you will owe them lunch for making them go there. Here are 4 things I liked about this place:1. Got to see old timey race cars2. Got to go on a race simulator3. Can't think of two more.
We attended a private Dance in the evening during a convention in Charlotte. The kids loved exploring the large area and seeing all the interactive car displays. The food served during cocktail hours was decent for that type of environment , like really bad bar snacks, but we did not expect a high end meal. This was an excellent location for a evening venue.
We were here for a private function that included dinner. We enjoyed the hands on experience and the displays, very nice place to visit.
Not really that into NASCAR - though I am from the South. But our conference had a dinner here and we did walk around. The cars are interesting and the movie connection to cars and NASCAR are interesting also. Mainly this is for NASCAR fans.
We had such a good time watching the film, and taking pictures. You really could just spend the whole day there. Wear comfy shoes. The food at the snack shop is perfect for you to take a break and get your second wind. The simulator race cars are so much fun. And you can get an idea how hard it really is to race those big muscle machines.
Even if you're a casual race fan, there's a lot of history and a lot to see at this venue. (You don't even need to have a plug of tobacco in your cheek.) :-)
Take this with a grain of salt as I've been in the racing industry for over 30 years. I was curious about the museum and had a meeting there with some colleagues. Afterwards, we were allowed me to experience the facility and all its attractions. They've done a nice job of creating some hands-on displays and placing some interesting history on the floor. For the huge NASCAR fan - especially those who are interested in history, it seems a worthy visit; once. Unless they change it a lot (which it did not seem conducive to such), once you've been you will have seen it and won't feel the need to return. It's expensive! When I was told the price of entry, I felt that for the price of admission and parking, etc. it seems a pretty low value. Especially for someone like me who's been in the industry. Since I already know how a lot of what they have in the displays actually works in the 'real world', some of the wow factor was lost on me. If your only experience of the sport is from TV or in the stands, then your experience may be different but be prepared for some pretty serious sticker shock. Especially if you bring the family. Much like a race event, the price is increased exponentially with each person that needs an admission ticket to get in, much less the additional costs for a visit.I'm glad that due to my meeting I didn't have to pay to get in, otherwise I would have felt disappointed. But again - Your mileage may vary.
This was a great surprise, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our 14-day cross-country road trip. Not huge NASCAR fans, we didn't have high expectations. We were pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was! There are LOTS of interactive stations throughout the Hall of Fame. A few highlights were the qualifiers, the pit crew competition, and the simulated racing. We all had a lot of fun competing against each other, and we learned a thing or two about NASCAR in the process. We all had a fantastic time at this stop!
