The craft beer selection is pretty impressive for any bar. All of the craft beer is in bottles, though - not much, if anything, on draft. The craft beer bottles are priced at about $6 each - which isn't terrible, but not great. The bar had a fun, relaxed atmosphere with a nice outside deck and beautiful views. If you aren't a smoker, and I am not, you might be bothered by the cigar smoke. The bar also allows pets - so there are dogs and maybe some cats hanging out with you on the deck. It was an interesting bar with a great beer selection. The cigars and the pets kept me from giving it a 5 star rating.
The highlight of our trip to Cedar Key was the Black Dog Bar. The owner was very helpful and made anyone who came through the door feel at home. The selection of beer was extraordinary. The beer is kept very cold in the self serve cooler. You choose your beer, take it to the bar, grab a ice cold glass and relax. The outdoor deck has a great view of the water and nice breeze. The bar is cozy and welcomes cigar smokers, but not cigarette smokers (a huge plus). There is no liquor, only wine and beer but the beer selection makes up for it. We will be back.
The black dog has a huge collection of bottled craft beers and a fair number of cigars, in as peaceful a location as you could imagine. Inside there are comfy chairs and settees and a chilled atmosphere. Outside great views over the gulf and other nearby islands. The owner is a great guy and good company.
We spent two nights and one marathon day trying to sample many of the beer flavors here. The back deck is waterfront, the front porch wraps from sea to street and the inside is dark, warm, and funky. They don't mind bringing in food from across the street. There were no more than a dozen people there and everything was very laid back. Don't trust the sign for open and closed times, it's island time so everyone is working off of "ish" o'clock. Definitely going back.
Comming into the Black Dog Bar and Tables feels like comming home, with the friendly proprietors and staff greeting you. Specialising in great beer and fine wines, this is the best place to kick back. Enjoy the view from the outside deck overhanging the Gulf, and enjoy one of the fine cigars they can offers in the somewhat rustic atmosphere in this awesome bar.
Wide selection of beers to fit everyone's taste. Great views from the outside deck, friendly staff, friendly bar mascot dogs! Not cheap but if you enjoy trying different brews this is the place. It was just what we wanted. Fantastic.
If you are looking to relax, this is where you want to be. Comfortable couches and TVs where a game is always on. It could be a College football, World Cup Soccer or Tour de France.... Over 150 bottled beers but you won't find a Bud, Miller Lite or simular. Only upsale brews and a nice selection of wines. Cigars are available if thats what you enjoy. Views of the Gulf of Mexico and really does not get better that this.....
Cedar Key is a quaint, seaside village that thrives on the tourist trade and Dock Street, the commercial strip along the waterfront, is full of restaurants, souvenir shops and motels. But the one place that stands out is the Black Dog Bar and Tables, a cozy bar overlooking the Gulf that boasts more than 150 craft beers, a decent wine selection and a variety of quality cigars. This place felt like home as soon as we walked through the door, thanks to owners TJ and Miranda, who treated us like old friends instead of first-time customers. We can't wait to go back again.
Great place for a drink on Dock Street. TVs and games inside. Sit out back and watch the dolphins play. Miranda was very friendly and funny to talk to. Kinda expensive. Everything sold by the bottle. No food served. Just enjoy the atmosphere and view.
We decided to take the day trip from Sarasota (about 3 1/2 hours) and not wanting to leave our 10 month old puppy behind we thought we would see how dog friendly we could make a trip to Cedar Key. As you might imagine, Black Dog Bar and Tables was welcoming to not just us. And to top it off it wasn't like we were settling for a place that allows dogs, they have the greatest selection of bottled craft style beers I have seen in as long as I can remember! I bet a good beer buzz and that sunset are pretty righteous! Worth the trip. :)
