I've been to the Christmas spectacular two years in a row and it's always highly enjoyable. The performances are outstanding, and the theater is just magnificent. So much so that my fiance and I are renting the theater to have our wedding pictures taken there.
We've seen many different types of entertainment here, the last being Hal Holbrook's Mark Twain show. The shows stand on their own, but the theater is a classic. After the flood of 2008 destroyed almost everything, they have meticulously restored the entire facility. In addition to a restoration that included research on every aspect of the facility, they've introduced technology and comfort features. If you can take your eyes of the ornate features that are simply everywhere, you might even watch a good show.
Great place to relax and see a great show. Always something going on at the Paramount.Newly remodeled from the flood and just beautiful.
beautful theater and each seat if very good. Parking can sometime be a long ways away, the theater is comfortable
love the experience of attending a Paramount event. They offer a diverse offering...saw Burton Cummings of the Guess Who last night. Staff did a great job of keeping some of the more 'energetic' patrons out of the aisles and in their seats. Saw Chris Botti last year, which was also outstanding. Ability to sip a glass of wine or beer while seated is also nice, however the lines at the bar can be long. This is a classic opera house and a gem for Cedar Rapids.
I went here on two occasions to see stand up comedy performances. The interior is gorgeous and they have a nice bar to purchase adult beverages which you can enjoy while you watch the performance. Wonderful place to be entertained.
The Paramount was such a jewel, an old downtown theater still serving as a venue for live theater companies, the city orchestra, and other extravaganzas... when it went completely under water during the flood of 2008, shortly after a total refurbishment, many of us thought it was gone forever. However, some very determined and visionary folks made it happen and now the Paramount is back and better than ever. The painted detail, the re-created carpet and the Mighty Wurlitzer are all back. You really need to see this theater!
Drove my girlfriend out to Cedar Rapids for her birthday from Springfield IL to see Symphonie Fantastique and it was an unbelievable experience. The orchestra was absolutely beautiful and the conductor was engaging and professional. Will return!
It is astonishing that after the damage she suffered in the '08 flood, it did not keep this beautiful old girl down. Wonderfully restored to its former glory, the Paramount is a must-see.
I absolutely love how they've remodeled the Paramount after the 2008 flood. The entertainment that they've had has been excellent. My grandmother, mother daughter and I went to see La Boheme. Was excellent and the staff was great!
