I've been going to the Rainbow for over 20 years. It's a staple when visiting LA, since it has the best pizza around. The fact that it's on the Sunset Strip and a favorite of local celebrities doesn't hurt either. In all the years I've been there, I've seen Robert Plant, Lemmy from Motorhead, CC from Poison, and Sam Kinison was a regular before he passed away. The atmosphere is great, with dark woods, red tones and black and white photos of many of rock's classic guitarists and performers on the walls. This time around, our waitress, Danny, was as much part of the experience as the restaurant. She kept us entertained and was a pleasure to have serving us. If you like old school rock, good pizza a great atmosphere, the Rainbow is a must see.
I'll look past the old school bar (with old bartenders that tell tales of the golden 80's) and the motorcycle gang members that loiter around outside and focus on the delicious food in the restaurant. We had pizza and wings - very basic - but both were delicious and reasonably priced. Skip the bar and head somewhere else when it's time for a drink.. If this bar was anywhere other than in Los Angeles on the Sunset Strip it would be closed..
Being a fan of Rock n Roll I had to make a stop at the Rainbow and it did not let me down. This place was amazing! We started off with some of the famous pizza (A must have) and a few drinks. It did not bother me at all that it took a bit for the food to arrive as it gave us a chance to soak it all in. We sat in the booth where the November Rain video was shot and it made us feel like rock stars for a few minutes. The waitress was very nice and had a lot of fun facts to share. After dinner we went upstairs and listened to some really good Rock n Roll and danced for hours. Other than the upstairs floor manager (not sure what that term meant as he just sat there) being a jerk and trying too hard to look like Lemy we had a great time. This place did not disappoint!
This restaurant was a nice choice on a Tuesday night early. Not crowded yet. Neither one of us are really rockers, but it was cool to see all the rock n' roll memorabilia. We had the fantastic pizza. We ordered 2 small pizzas, but one was big enough. We had hoped to see someone someone famous, but no luck. Maybe next time.
Voltaria lá todas as noites se pudesse!
This place is so much fun! The history behind this bar is amazing. The bar is up stairs and the employees are always nice. Sometimes they have live bands or just music to dance to. Although I've never eaten at the restaurant, I've heard nothing but good reviews about it. If you go here, keep your eyes out for celebrity's!
We got there early thankfully and got a table in the smoking area. Having a smoking area in a bar in LA is a novelty in itself. It was really nice to be able to sit down with a drink and have a cigarette! for this reason alone i would go back, Drinks are reasonably priced aswell and our server was so nice and looked after us all night. Im glad we got there early because within an hour the place was packed. Great atmosphere, a real rocker bar!I wouldnt come here to eat again to be honest, i thought the food was over priced and not very good. My husband said his lasagna was really tasty.I went inside to use the restrooms and i loved the old world charm of the interior. Absolute classic.
