Ok, the house is not very exceptional, but let you understand better the life of George Enescu, a real genius. The guide was very very helpful, giving us lots of information, answering our questions. We could feel that she really loves to speak about George Enescu and share all this information with us.
Incredible setting and atmosphere, serene and charming. A venue for classical music concerts in September, during the George Enescu Festival.
More could be done to keep alight the memory of our greatest composer. We liked the exhibits on offer but a bigger collection would bring extra value
I was impressed! I've felt like I was entered in Enescu's heart... I recommend it for all music lovers.
Pablo Casals described Enescu as "the greatest musical phenomenon since Mozart". The Enescu memorial house is a quite place, with well conserved instruments / furniture and friendly rooms. Actually if you spend a while there, alone, you can "feel" the atmosphere which took place 100 yrs ago. I recommend.
We had an English audio tour around the house. This was helpful and interesting but sometimes rather fast. Overall, it was an interesting house to visit in terms of its architecture and interior.
Ticket price 6lei (1.3euro) is cheap but there is a 30lei fee for taking pictures or filming. In my opinion the photo tax is not worth the money being the same with Peleș castle photo tax. The exhibition is rather small, there are not many things to see. Still if you are in classical music then is fine. Enescu was a great artist, internationaly acclaimed. Do not forget to check the balcony which is big and has a nice view. They do not have any cd to buy with Enescu's music, only some dvds with a documentary about him.Overall the tour of the house takes maximum 20 mn so if you're in the area I recommend to have a quick look but don't set your expectations too high.
a memorial for the roumanian bigest musician george enescu his music is unforgetable is to mention:the roumanian rapsodie wich is known all over the world
This is one of the first museums in Romania where we took an audio guide. The house is very interesting, quite modest and brings you closer to the life of the great composer.Neighbourhood is also quite nice for a walk.
After you listen his amazing operas, after you know that he was one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, after you see that George Enescu was living in a modest house surrounded by the sound of the nature, you realize that George Enescu was geniuses of International music. If you want to increase your knowledge about his music, go to George Enescu's festival, visit his memorial house, and tell your friends your experience!
