We went and saw "Always Patsy Cline" at the Brauntex today and it was completely and utterly mind blowing! I closed my eyes and thought it was 1961 and I was at the Grand Ole Opry. The venue was intimate and comfortable, there isn't a bad seat in the house! Parking was convenient and free. This is my new theater for sure, I just got tickets for Pam Tillis in December.
The variety of entertainment and the quality is excellent. A nice change from loud bars. Season tickets needed to get best seating but plan a weekend in New Braunfels based on a performance, include dinner at McAdoos, and stay at a nice B&B
This old movie theatre has been upgraded into a really nice performing arts venue. They have shows that range from unplugged listening series of singer/songwriters to Vegas type shows. They also have lots of locally produced children theater companies and music shows.
There is a fun selection of good music at this venue. Read and sample ahead of time on the internet. Some are touring group "cover bands'. If you love that sort of thing, there are some good ones here. Also the selection of some great local Americana music has been improving!
This theatre has attracted some great acts over the years as well as provided a venue for local talent to perform. The theatre has been remodeled and is absolutely beautiful.
Loved it!!! Got great seats...NICE AC!! Acoustics was very good, and they put on a wonderful show!!!!
Just imagine a movie theatre where you can drive up to the curb and pay no parking fee. Then walk up a few steps to be seated and see a local musical group or a movie. So absolutely convenient it is unbelievable in this day of huge parking garages and mall movies.
This little theatre company is very talented. I have seen three plays there now and have enjoyed all of them. Can't wait for another chance to go.
Being fans of Marty Stuart and his fabulous Superlatives, Booked our tickets to his concert at the Brauntex Theatre even before our flights ! The town is about 35 miles from San Antonio and you can imagine how it looked in the early part of the last century with its wide main street and amazing shops, including a hardware shop which is still as it was 100 years ago and still trading. The Theatre has been completely refurbished and is a credit to its owners and staff. We received a great welcome as the manager had seen from our email booking that we were from the UK so even had our photo taken which was a first! Easy parking in a spacious lot behind the theatre which included Marty's very smart tour bus. Brilliant atmosphere for the concert and Marty and his band stayed to meet and greet everyone and sign autographs and CD's which was very well organised and I can't see that happening with a similar high profile act here in UK. Thanks to everyone at the Brauntex for a fabulous evening. Check their website for upcoming events, it's well worth the short trip out from San Antonio.
