We are vacationing in NSB and attended 4pm mass today. The church is very welcoming and the stained glass behind the altar is beautiful. Most importantly, Fr Quinn gave a great homily. And the congregation sings!
Beautiful modern church right on the main drag. We arrived 10 minutes early (which is 20 minutes before most of our Catholic brethren typically do) and the parking lot was full for the sixth Sunday of ordinary time. The local sitting next to us said it is full for every Mass on the weekends and this is one of the first Parishes I have visited that has TWO daily masses. The spirit may be old in this church, but it is alive. I would go back again if I were in the area.
We went to church the Saturday we arrived. We got there 10 minutes early, and it was full. No problem, as the ushers kept pulling out chairs to put in the vestibule. All the people around us were welcoming. We came back on Ash Wednesday, and realized we had the mass schedule wrong, so we showed up as it was letting out. Father took us back into church and administered ashes.
I recently attended a weekday daily Mass at this church during my vacation. The building is not new , but is kept impeccably clean and tidy . You can tell there are parishioners that really care about their church. In my early 50s I prob was the youngest person at Mass . No matter . there was a love respect and the spirit alive in the church. The priest was Fr. Patrick Quinn and he was a learned man of compassion and knowledge. I will be back
This is our parish for the month of January. They are always warm and welcoming.. I love the stain glass window behind the altar too. Gorgeous. They always make a point of welcoming us visitors from the north.
While I am no longer able, it is a nice walk to the church if you like the exercise. Frequently have a gathering after Sunday massfor coffee and friendship.
I know its a destination for Snowbirds but even then was surprised at the '' older'' age of all attendees. the coffee and doughnuts after mass - excellentthe choir was lovely and everyone was very welcoming to a visitor
An amazing parish with bagels and coffee after mass and a real sense of community. Marvellous priests that have a tremendous sense of humour ~ and a gift for sermons that are significant always.Have been attending mass while on vacation for over 20 years and miss it and shed a tear every time we drive by when leaving! See you again soon! God bless you Our Lady Star of the Sea !
The pastor is a great speaker, and made the occasion very meaningful. We like visiting this parish when we are in NSB. Everyone is very welcoming, which is a plus.
Nice church in good location. Very casual and good experience. Easy and plenty of parking. Really enjoyed the service and go often when I am there.
