Quick way to cross the Ohio River west of downtown Cincinnati. Inexpensive and fast. Ticket taker was grumpy, but he was standing in the rain. They take only cash - no credit/debit cards. Interesting experience.
I remember trips across the river to go apple picking on the ferry. Very affordable to take a car. Now I park the car and buy a foot pass to take my grandmother back and forth, she loves it.
a great way to go from the west side to the airport altho you may have to maneuver a tricky curvy hill once you get off the ferry. i used to just go across as a foot passenger when i lived on the west side and enjoy just being on the river for a few trips. was pretty reasonable to ride. used to take it to off site classes in ky and it really cut the time. everyone should try riding the ferry just for the experience. it is beautiful being on the river. try it at sunrise or sunset sometime. it does get busy at times so allow for that if you are really in a hurry at rush hours.
Ever taken you car across a river on a ferry? No? Then here is your chance. Take an easy drive down Route 50 along the Cincy side to the Ferry. Hope on the Ferry, cross the river to the KY side and take a right on KY 8 to view all the neat farms and houses. Definitely stop off at the Apple Orchard during the fall and then head back on KY 8 towards the city for a great Sunday drive,
We wanted a shortcut to the airport from the west side. My friend is a lifelong westsider and suggested the ferry. A great experience. I had so much fun! A great beginning to an Easter weekend trip. Unexpected that these little gems still operate and are so unassuming. Love.
Great value and a great way to kick it old school while crossing the river! Especially if you've never done this I highly recommend taking the ferry across the river. It is a view of the crossing you absolutely can't get any other way.
we were out with grandchildren in the car and as "A LARK" decided to take the ferry! We were last trip that night! and had fun just lollygagging across the Ohio.Never be in a RUSH!
Super easy and fast way to travel to Kentucky. I would almost always like to avoid the highways. It's not all that much to use the Ferry. And I live right up the road so it makes more sense to go this way than any other.
It's a landmark for the Cincinnati area. A little bit of a crap shoot in regards to saving time. If you pull up and can drive right on the ferry and they leave shortly after it can save you some time. The price is really reasonable with discounts if you are making a round trip.
The ferry ride across the Ohio river is truly a step back in time... Doing so with the fall leaves along the banks of the Ohio River in their blazing glory is spectacular.... Turn South on KY Rt 8 in October and take your little ones to the Pumpkin patch for photos and apple fritters...OH the memories and pictures!
