One of the best walleye lakes in Minnesota .Large musky are also present .Nice lake to fish Lots of fisherman can`t be wrong
We have been up here for a week. The first day we got here we were greeted in such a wonderful way. The owners of Viking Bay Resort are some of the nicest, most helpful people we've ever met at any resort. We got settled in and of corse went out for the evening bite. We caught several walleyes every night. During the day we kind of had a hard time finding the fish but it's a big lake. We loved how the cabins are right on the lake. The beach is clean. The cabin was spot -less. I would highly recommend this place!
Get a boat and gear and get busy ~ this is the place to fish ! SSShhhh just don't tell anyone ......
Loved the sunsets! And the fishing! the weather was beautiful.
My family has vacationed on Lake Miltona for the past 6-7 years. It's one of our favorite lakes and a great destination for combining family time and fishing. This year, we stayed at the Tip Top Cove resort. In other years, we've stayed at Viking Bay and the Woodlands. All three are great resorts, family oriented, and well managed -- and each has something slightly different to offer. The resort owners are all welcoming and make you feel right at home. We recommend all three resorts. The fish were biting like crazy on Lake Miltona in June 2011. We caught dozens of pan fish in the 9"-12" range, and lots of bass. At one point, two members of my family reeled in good sized bass at exactly the same time, while two others caught >9" pan fish. Don't worry, fellow fisherman, we follow catch and release principles so the fish are back in the lake. If you're going to Lake Miltona and need to use the public boat launch -- go early in the day or be prepared to wait for a parking spot for your vehicle and trailer.
We stayed at the Viking Bay Resort on Lake Miltona July 19, 2013 -Everything about this resort is wonderful. The Staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are spotless and spacious, beds are very comfortable, They have a nice gift store where you can pick up a souvenier or if you get cold when you're out in a boat you can buy a sweatshirt or something. They have Caribou coffee which is really nice and they have snack foods if you get hungry while you are there and don't wanna run out someplace. They have a great selection of wines alot of them from MN. They have a nice tackle shop and fish cleaning house. We rented a Pontoon for 4 hrs and the staff was so helpful in telling us where the fish were biting. We caught numerous sunnys, bluegills, and pumpkinheads and I caught a couple baby walleyes that were too small to save. And a baby smallmouth bass. There pontoon was very nice, very comfortable and they have gas right on site made it very nice and convenient. We had a great time there and definently will be back again hopefully to spend even more time there next time. All of us had alot of fun would for sure recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere comfortable to relax with great fishing.
This is a huge, beautiful lake with excellent fishing. We caught more bass than we could count. The loon population is fun to watch as well as to listen to.
Spent a few days in The Lodge at Viking Bay Resort on Lake Miltona. The wind was terrible for most of our stay, so the fishing and swimming was not possible. Took the kids and grandkids into Alexandria for some fun, played lawn games, etc. Took out their large pontoon finally before leaving for home, since the winds had quieted down. We had a four bedroom suite, which worked well for our needs. It's a very nice place to stay and the people were very friendly, trying to help us out even though the weather was less than optimal. Would recommend this Lodge for those of us who like the country cabin feel but upgrade to closer to hotel amenities. The 2-person jacuzzi tubs in the bathrooms were fantastic!!
Grew up on the Lake. Wonderful gem when the tourists are not there. To the other reviewer, I recommend not coming Labor Day or the 4th of July, because of course the lake is busy. In the morning fishing for bass and crappie is wonderful. Sunfish and other panfish bite under the sun around lunchtime. And nowhere is Minnesota provides a better place for fun than parts of Lake Miltona at night -- walleye fishing is truly at its best during this time. The lake is clean and beautiful. Period.
