This is an outstanding floral experience; especially the rose garden. Views over Glacier Lake are best in the fall. The skyline of the once famous, thriving steel town are a good photo op.
I attended wedding shower & 2 grad parties there. Beautiful halls, gorgeous nature views, lots of flower species. Gazebo for photos. Really nice for indoor/outdoor setting.
This is THE place I take all of my out of town friends when they come to visit! Not that Mill Creek Park isn't spectacular in it's own right, but certain times of the year (when the tulips are in bloom, for example), it's just the only place to be! They always have something interesting going on in the at the Davis Education Center--flower shows, etc., not to mention a really fun cafe (I recommend the Marco Polo!) and the gift shop is just out of this world and ridiculously inexpensive! I don't suggest going during high summer, as it's incredibly busy with tons of weddings due to the gazebo rentals and parking is sometimes an issue.
No matter when u visit your eyes are in for a treat. The flowers are gorgeous spring into fall, there's a cafe to satisfy your culinary tastes, small art gallery, beautiful giftshop. Outside is beautiful even in winter.
We visit Fellows Riverside Gardens EVERY time we come to the area, which is twice a year. It is truly a gem of Youngstown. It is not only extremely well-maintained, wonderfully decorated, and provides relaxing entertainment, but it is free!
There is a totally to take you thru the park, with a well versed guide. Letterman's Mill is a necessary visit.. Also Fellows Riverside Gardens and the Garden Center are well worth your time. It truly is the diamond in the rough.
This is a great facility year round. Located right off 680. They have Christmas lights up both outside and inside. Over 20 different decorated trees. Great place to take the family for some holiday spirit.
Lovely part of Mill Creek Metroparks. Features a rose garden with pavilion, overlook of Glacier Lake, large gazebo, rhododendron and azalea garden, herb garden, shade garden, blooming annuals and bulbs, beech tree collection, statuary, and an overlook of downtown Youngstown. There is also a children's garden off of the parking lot. Inside the center is information on the plants, a free library, usually some sort of temporary art exhibit, a cafe, and a gift shop. There is a wonderful plant sale in May, and a spring blooming bulb sale in the fall (daffodils, crocus, etc.). The gazebo and pavilion are rentable for weddings, and the lower level of the Davis center is a rentable reception hall. It is a public park, and things like dogs and smoking are not allowed. There is usually a Mill Creek Metroparks police officer present - more than one if it's a busy day. All in all, a wonderful, quiet, beautiful place to visit.
The flowers are gorgeous! They have numerous paths through the gardens and are wheel-chair friendly. Bring your camera! There is also a gift shop and restaurant.
