I have been to plenty of great zoos and Erie is not one of them. For a small zoo it does do its best to create an enjoyable day but for the most part this was a quiet zoo with some outdated exhibits. Highlights include the Wild Asia exhibits with the Orangutans and the Kiboka Outpost home to Rhinos and Wild Dogs. There is a nice children's section with Penguins and kangaroos and an indoor Carousel. The zoo is affordable and also offers train rides through the park, and has some small snack stands to offer food and a gift shop.
We have had a membership to the Erie Zoo for 10 years now and I plan on having one for many more years. It is a great size zoo. You could just spend a couple hours there or the whole day. It seems that every year they add something new or update something in the zoo. The train ride is a must every time we go.
I have really enjoyed the expansion of our zoo in recent years. Even as an adult, I love to visit the zoo. The Erie zoo is clean and the layout and gardens are very enjoyable. There is a nice amount of various animals to view. The price is reasonable and the parking is free.Kids will love the kids area and the train ride. The membership price is well worth it if you will be visiting multiple times.
Really enjoyed my experience here. They have a very good selection of animals and I was surprised how nice it was. Would definitely recommend if in town.
My sister is a red panda fanatic so she took me to the Erie Zoo often while we were both unemployed. I love this zoo for so many reasons:1) It's a perfect size. Cleveland and especially Columbus Zoos are too vast to finish comfortably in a day.2.) There are some delightfully quirky architectural details that add to the charm of the Zoo.3.) Your rhinos are huge and fun, when they're moving.4.) This is where I saw my first baby red panda. It was Nutmeg. I loved when she sat in her bowl.5.) OLLIE!!!!Oh, I could go on. Overall, a delightfully wonderful zoo.
we visited in 2009 with our 3 young grandchildren and again this past summer with the same grandchildren. It's not a huge zoo but it's a very nice zoo. It offers a good variety of animals. Our grandchildren's favorite is a black swan!As older grandparents we liked it was easy to walk and enjoy the animals and the snack area where the food was quite good.
I love It everything time we go the zoo boo evertime we go it relly fun love it we will be going every day if we can
Our hometown zoo is always interesting, it has quite an extent of animals and exhibits and is fun for the entire family.
Erie Zoo is not a huge zoo that takes all day to go through. That being said, it is a very nice zoo. You can plan on a few hours to visit this zoo, unless you have little ones that will want to linger in the children's zoo. The Erie Zoo concentrates on animals that can thrive in smaller enclosures and adapt to Erie's, sometimes long, cold winters There have been many improvements and renovations at the Erie zoo, over the years. The most recent, for the lions, had not been completed yet near the end of summer 2014. Erie zoo works to responsibly and successfully breed their animals and the Erie community celebrates their successes and grieves their losses. They have a nice children's section with a play area and shows and other interactive activities.
We visited this zoo again, because the last time we were in Erie, it was pouring rain (we visited anyways). This time, it is near the end of the season. On this day, it was very cool and cloudy, so the zoo was deserted. It was all decorated for Halloween, which was fun, but several of the animals were already in their winter quarters and so, not visible. We enjoyed what we saw, and we got to see more of the zoo this time, so we finally saw how pretty it is. The most disappointing thing was that we passed several zoo workers throughout our visit, and not one of them took the time to make eye contact and/or greet us in any way. This was the third of three zoos we visited during this road trip, and the only one where not a single worker felt it necessary to give a greeting, even when we were right next to them in the same building!
