My husband bought a groupon for a cider tasting that brought us to this location and we were so glad it did. The farm is small but the experience was amazing. There were 6 hard ciders on tap, some which have won awards like the Hopping Johnny. They also had cold, hot and frozen ciders available for those who don't drink. They have fresh cider donuts made on site so delicious, you'll wish you bought "just one more package." There is a fire to sit around and meet wonderful other visitors from all around.
We used to come here every Fall for the apples and cider. Last fall I brought the kids out and noticed they had put in a bar and were serving alcohol. I'm not opposed to enjoying an adult beverage, but I didn't expect them to be serving open alcohol in an environment with children present. It seems that it has went down hill since.
We purchased a Groupon and took our sister for a cider tasting. The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Great little location good for family and right off the highway. The ciders were so much better than what we had tried in the last year or so. I would compare it to micro brew for cider and we did take some home to keep for later in the year. Give it a try. It's a great stop off for family.
The day before, Chef Marti suggested we head over the state line to have some apple cider doughnuts! We also tried the hard cider at his suggestion and as a White House and Camp David Chef, we took the idea to heart! Boy was this place fascinating! The hay ride was not running but it is for weekends I guess. We loved it.
I bought a Groupon for two glasses of cider with souvenir cups and my fiance and I went to check it out. They had several flavors of hard cider to choose from and you could also get a flight to try each one. It was very good. We also bought some cider donuts with cinnamon and sugar on them. They were nice and fresh and very tasty. The carmel apple that we had was also really good. We sat for a while at a picnic table under the pavilion and enjoyed the music and animals. There were other couples there as well as families with children. If you would prefer not to drink alcohol they also sell regular cider and sodas. We bought a jug of cider to take home as well. I would go back again for sure.
Windy Hills has the best cider, hard cider (strawberry's my favorite), and apple cider donuts I've ever had. The donuts, if you're lucky enough, are the best when they are fresh and warm! They also have awesome events for the kiddos during the fall season, like hayrides, scarecrow stuffing, and of course the story of Johnny Appleseed. Whether you're a native of the area or just passing through, Windy Hills is well worth your time!
Spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Windy Hill. This is Apple picking season and the crowds vouched for it popularity. Great Ciders at the tasting bar and being able to try them on on a flight is the best way to decide what you like or don't. The Apple Cider doughnuts are delicious and the Pretnots with Apple butter are a great accompaniment to the cider. Petting Zoo, Apple Picking and Hay Rides are other offerings during Apple picking season. This is a don't miss when in the area and definitely a place to put down of your list of things to do.
I bought the Groupon and took the family out! It was a good time! Not sure why the people before me gave a 3 star rating!! I probably wouldn't take the kids next time but they had fun. I'll be back for the live music!!
We came on the day of the fall harvest festival. Great fresh cider donuts along with fresh apple cider, not to mention hard cider, spiced cider, peach, strawberry, and pomegranate cider! Very nice event, nice weekend outing for families
The best apple cider around! All of their award winning ciders are on tap every afternoon from Wednesday through Sunday. There is a fire-pit, wandering chickens and pigs, and fresh fried pork rinds and apple cider doughnuts. My favorite ciders are Ginger Gold and Hopping Johnny, but they are all good. A Groupon coupon makes this a real bargain!
