If you like culture this is the place for you. Great learning experience and wonderful art of all kinds including from local artistsThe café is great for a snake and coffee
Visited a couple of days after remembrance day and found the exhbition around WW1 and that of local war artist interesting and quite poignant. Liked the mix of exhibitions on offer.
On the ground floor there's not much to captivate but this collection has some real gems. A good selection of Scottish enlightenment portraits, some great Scottish colourist landscapes and still lives and a wonderful collection of watercolours. Its worth coming to Aberdeen just to immerse yourself here
I hadn't been here since I was a kid , decided to pop on with my wife for a coffee & break from Christmas shopping. Nice quiet cafe in gallery with good coffee & friendly staff. The Bon Accord Silver Band were playing Christmas Carols which gave the gallery a really nice feel. We had a look round the War display and the Art installations. Overall worth a visit / entry is free.
I love the art gallery as a place to learn and relax. The shop has a great selection of souvenirs, including prints of many of its paintings. The cafe is a good place to go if you need a break from your wanderings
the title of this review might seem a bit odd but I'm amazed how many of my friends and co-workers who didn't know Aberdeen had an art gallery!.We have visited numerous times both with kids and without. Its located centrally near the Bon Accord centre and I would recommend parking here and walking round. Its a lovely building inside with lots to see. They usually have some sort of special exhibition on which changes over time so worth checking back every now and then.I would allow 1-2 hours for a visit.
Officail Statement at 13/12/2014Aberdeen Art Gallery will formally close to visitors at the end of January, but throughout the month of February we aim to offer some limited access so you can see what’s happening. These dates and times will be confirmed early in the New Year, when we will also announce details of a farewell event for all the family at the end of March. Re-opening of the redeveloped Gallery will be winter 2017.
Liked plenty of seating . Mixture of exhibitions - beautiful paintings and lovely statues. Also cafe which was not sampled
I visit regularly and enjoy visiting, however quite often the same pictures and artworks are always on display. I think the Keepers could do more to change the exhibits. How about showing some of the other sculptures and pictures? What about showing the glassware regularly changing the exhibits.
This is a bijou gallery with a wonderful marble staircase, which our incredibly ignorant council are proposing to decimate ... they should all be hung, drawn and quartered. This is a beautiful, dreamy historic building with masses of charm, about to be ruined by ignorant and unfeeling people.
