A real gem in little Acme PA. The building and grounds are done up like a Tuscan winery. If you purchase a bottle of wine (per two people) you can sit on the patio/deck area outside and drink. The vineyards are within view as well as a beautiful forest and a man made lake area. Restroom facilities are available as is small amounts of food for purchase but the better idea is to pick up a lunch from Delallo's in Jeannette or Lupi and Leos in Greensburg and bring a gourmet sandwich out to go with this wine. They even have bands on select summer weekends. As for the wine, it is good by PA standards, meaning on the sweet side of sweet with even the dry being sweet. But for PA standards, very good. I often visit and it is a major suggestion as a good date spot, summer hangout, tourist destination. Probably not good for kids……alcohol and all.
I love going to Stone Villa in the summer. On the weekends they have music on the patio. There are several tables and umbrellas to shade the sun. The view is wonderful. As you sit facing the band, the backdrop is a lake. The wine is great. Yum. I only wish I could make it there more often. You must purchase a bottle of wine per couple. Oh how sad :) We usually buy more to take home. You can bring a picnic!
The Stone Villa Winery is located in the rural scenic hills of the Donegal area. The grounds are very inviting and nicely manicured. The winery invites you to free wine tasting (up to six varieties). You can then indulge in a bottle of your favorite variety outside on the large patio at you own umbrella covered table, where you can enjoy music (live on the weekends) and enjoy the scenery of the vineyards and fish pond. Light snacks are also available, but you can bring your own if you prefer. The wines are moderately priced and are very good. SVW is not just a winery visit; it’s also an experience.
The Stone Villa is a great Saturday or Sunday excursion, bring your lawn chairs if you want to sit under the trees or use the chairs and tables on the patio. Good entertainment most weekends in summer. Bring snacks and buy your wine there. Come early as the parking lot fills up pretty fast. Wine is good with a wide variety. Only downside the restroom situation is bad - one men's and one woman's and each only a one holer, the lines backup as the day and wine drinking continue.
Stone Villa is a favorite location for spending a few weekend hours. Great wines, great variety, should satisfy everyone from the sweet wine enthusias. To the dry wine die hard. The location is gorgeous, with an outdoor venue for live music every summer weekend. Good place, nice people, only thing that keeps me from rating this a 5 is the somewhat generic music choices.
..We visited the winery in April-- it is absolutely beautiful here... the staff was very friendly ...we are looking forward to seeing the grounds in the summer...I know they offer great entertainment here.. we purchased many bottles of wine-- they have quite a variety--
We liked the staff and the setting, bet it is really nice in the warmer months. we purchased some wines and the staff gave us a preview of the sring wine coming out. Nice little road trip.
The winery is surrounded by a lake which is a plus. The area where you try the winery is nice and pleasant. The employees could have been more sociable but alright. The wine was pretty good. Considering we purchased 8 bottles of their wine. Their wines and even semi-sweets were pretty decent. Some of the prices were a bit pricey for what you're getting. I recommend trying this place out because it's a gem out in the middle of no where. This was a recommendation we received from Greendance Winery. Very seldom does another winery refer you to another winery.
Stone Villa is a farm converted to a winery in Acme, Pa. It's a nice place to spend a few hours in the summer time enjoying the scenery which over looks a nice lake. Musical groups are usually on hand on the weekends doing the summer. When it comes to their wine, it's a place that if you like sweet wines this is your place. If your in to good dry reds like I am, this isn't your place, the few available are over priced and of lower quality.
We visited this winery on a busy Saturday, but we were able to get a spot at the tasting counter. They give you 6 complimentary tasting pours. The Viogner and the Dechaunac were by far the best. I was especially impressed with the Dechaunac as it was a medium-bodied, very flavorful red wine. The rest of the wines further down on the tasting list were either watered down or fortified with way too much sugar. Definitely a winery for people who don't like wine but prefer grape juice that looks like wine. Yet, some of the dry/non-sweet wines are pretty good. The outside seating area is lovely, but you must buy a whole bottle to sit outside. It was just the two of us, so we couldn't finish off a whole bottle together without getting tipsy, and one of us was driving. Either go with a group of friends or spend the whole afternoon there if you plan on sitting outside.
