We did this walk after we did about 5 others in the park. This one was definitely much prettier and nicer than some of the others.Beaver pond towards the end is really cool !
Great info on the trail and this trail is relatively flat. Great for older folks and small children.
This trail is located right along why.60 in Algonquin park.It is at leafs a 2-3 hour walk without any stops. It is not for the easy going as take you up and down steep areas with lots of tree roots and rocks to navigate. However well worth the effort as you will travel through the forests and see several beaver pond areas and it is one of the best places to spot moose depending on the time of day you travel it.Lots of great scenery and plants and animals to see and enjoy. The busy beavers usually are out just before sunset and early in am.If you plan to see them at dust you better have a good flashlight with you as it is a long and windy path back. This trail is one of our favourites and we have walked it again and again for the pure enjoyment of it all.
First of all I am not sure why anyone would go to Algonquin and visit only one trail but if that is your circumstance then consider this one. The trail is relatively short, easier to walk than some others I have been on but has a bit of everything, bridges over ravines, wonderful bush walks, small streams, a great lookout and oh yes a beaver pond, not just one but two of them. They come with beaver lodges and a fantastic beaver dam. Well worth a visit.
Husband and I hiked this trail on our honeymoon, October 2013, on a really warm and beautifully sunny day. Borrow one of the trail guide books and take the time to read through the information at each sign post. We did this hike in an hour and a half, but we really spent time enjoying the vistas.Only word of caution is the very high lookout at the end of the trail, we didn't see the sign warning of the cliff until after we left the trail. Anyone with little ones needs to be especially careful near the end.
Das Informationsheft am Beginn des Trails hilft über einige Hänger beim Spaziergang hinweg. Die Idee, die Hefte wieder zurück zu legen, finde ich genial. Souvenier oder zurück legen - SUPER.
We picked up the pamplet before entering and learned a lot about beavers. While we didn't see any beavers it was a nice walk that took use over the beaver ponds and gave us plenty of information about how beavers help the environment.
Wonderful trail, even in the rain. Did not see the beavers but had a great view of the lodges and a very large dam.
A great hike and a great chance to see beaver. We saw two repairing their dam. Not overly difficult, but a great hike
We hiked several of the trails of Rt. 60 in Algonquin, and this may have been our favorite. It is peaceful, not too difficult, and reaches some beautiful spots, particularly the beaver dam-created lake at the far end of the loop. There we watched an otter that came quite close, as well as a great blue heron. I would think it would be a good spot for a moose, too, although we saw none. Try to go early in the morning or at dusk for the best chance to see the beavers themselves (and to encounter fewer people. But by all mean go!
