This is a gorgeous park right in town. The history of it is fascinating. What a huge asset to Aiken.
This was a great way to get in the spirit for Christmas. It's a walk through light exhibit, mostly statues and characters, topped off by free hot chocolate or cider and cookies. You can walk through as much or as little as you choose. It's a great family activity. Parking is at a lot in Citizen's Park with a shuttle to the gardens. All the employees were very friendly.
Love the buildings that have been lovingly restored! Where are all the ducks? Doll House is so cute.
A beautiful garden with a pond with ducks, fish and other aquatic animals. It also has many twisted old trees, very picturesque. I did a slideshow that I set to music with the photos I took.
What a grand and glorious place to visit. Peaceful and beautiful, for all families. Magnificent trees and foliage, along with terrific concerts held Monday evenings in the summer.
This place is so beautiful, definitely the hidden treasure of Aiken. It's a beautiful place to take a walk, picnic, nap, or take pictures. Despite being in the middle of town, it's so quiet and tranquil. Beautiful trees, beautiful place!
Enjoyed a peaceful stroll in the garden in spite of the rain. Watched a pair of bufflehead ducks on the pond and then admired the bright colors of the carp just below the water. Moss hanging from the live oaks looked almost mystical in the haze of the rain. Nice that there is no entrance fee for garden. Picnic tables that you could dine on in nicer weather. Also enjoyed the Thoroughbread Horse Racing museum which is also free (donations accepted). Would love to see the garden in bloom.
We have been here several times and always enjoy a leisurely stroll in the gardens. Don't think gardens in the sense of a botanical garden. Think more low key than that, more of a well-preserved park in which people actually stay on the paths. At Christmastime, the park is lighted with thousands of lights, and the historic buildings on the grounds are opened to the public. For free, though donations are accepted.
You won't want to miss this treat. At Christmas there's lights. In warm weather there's outdoor musical performances in the evenings. It's a beautiful place for a stroll. There's a labyrinth as well.
Beautifully manicured gardens, water features and regularly scheduled entertainment during the spring, summer and fall seasons. Plus, the Christmas lights at Hopelands Garden are a family tradition for many.
