We took a one-hour ride, as we could all be considered beginner riders (including 10-yr-old son). They had already given many if the "gentler" horses out to the kids in the trail ride that left before us, but our horses were pretty well-behaved. Unless you are near the front, you won't be able to make out much of what the guide says. Not that they had a whole lot to say.I thought it was a bit expensive at $111 for the three of us, just for one hour, but they did have adequate help most of the time.It seems to be run like a "family" business in that there are no computers involved as far as I could tell. Most of the time there wasn't anyone in the puny gift shop either. All reservations were hand written on a clip board. My son wanted a souvenir horseshoe with his horse's name on it, but they were out. They took our name and phone number, but in the three remaining days we had in the area, we never got a call.
My 12 and 11 year old daughter's loved the experience. They were on the 2 hour Emerald ride (it was altered from flooding...so not sure if it was more of the Moraine ride). They saw a moose and learned a lot about RMNP. I would bet this is the top attraction they will remember from the trip.
We have taken trail rides several times from this stable and have always had great service and beautiful horses. The scenery is to die for.
Located at the YMCA Of The Rockies, our group took a 1-hour ride through the trees and along the stream. It was great. Our guide Dylan told about various kinds of trees along the way, and the horses were all well-trained and compliant. We went back later for picture taking and observed how well these animals are cared for and treated. Nice job, folks!
We took the hayride while staying at the YMCA Camp. It is enjoyable for all ages. The crew from the stables were very nice and gave us interesting info on the way to the marsh mellow roast. They also entertain the children. Highly recommend.
It was our first time riding, but the guides matched us with very well trained horses; and the ride went smoothly. We went on a 1 hour ride down to the Basin and back; the terrain has some hills and valleys, but the horses handled it well. Some of our riders were little children who were not pleased at all for some reason, but the guides handles everything very professionally, so everyone was happy in the end.On our ride we saw grazing elk which didn't mind us at all. The scenery was beautiful of course, and the whole experience was just exhilarating. I say, worth every penny!
The staff was friendly and the horses nice except a few liked to stop and needed to be encouraged to go by kicking them with your heels. We toured some scenic trails. I would recommend this to others and would go back again.
My 9 year old daughter and I went on the 2 hour Moraine Park ride and it was an OUTSTANDING experience. The scenery was amazing and our guide Sammie Jo could not have been better. I learned several facts about RMNP, horses and last year's flood. This is the only stable we go to while in Estes. The staff is top notch and the whole operation is very professional. I HIGHLY recommend it.
My daughter and I stayed at the YMCA of the Rockies. The main reason was to go horseback riding at Jackson Stables. We had a great time. The wranglers were fun and the horses are incredible. We will do this again.
Took our 4-year-old twins to a reasonably priced, 20 min pony ride; A parent leads the pony through a wooded loop trail. The kids loved it.
