I have driven over the Thousand Island Bridge several times and each time I wish I could just walk across and take my time . . . maybe next time.
great view. Stop on the south side and walk across. The view is priceless. Its a little known fact that you can actually park your car and walk across. Same with the section in canada
Coming from the NY mainland side, if you pull into the parking lot just before the toll booths, you can hop out and walk up the pedestrian part of the bridge. Neat views, and if you go on the greatlakes-seaway site, you can figure out when the lake freighters will pass under the bridge (also lots of fun, and sometimes they'll blow their whistle for you (this will take you by surprise when it happens).Cautions: you have to cross an active multi-lane roadway to get to the pedestrian side of the bridge from the parking lot. Also, SPIDERS are everywhere on the bridge, so it's not good for arachnophobes. Finally, the bridge is designed to flex as heavy trucks go over it, so if that's going to bother you at a great height, maybe rethink the idea.
this bridge is really pretty and consists of a few spans the view to the Thousand Islands is better if someone else drives for you
The drive across the bridge is very nice - the views of the Thousand Islands are amazing. A must see when in the North Country
Great looking bridge Scary as hell to walk over. Quite a thrill when the bridge stars bouncing half way over from traffic.
There are lots more imposing suspension bridges around the world but this bridge claim to fame is it happens to cross St Lawrence River's Thousand Islands. The views from its highest point are spectacular.
Beautiful views at every angle coming over the Thousand Island Bridges in NY. Need to come back in the warmer months, lots to do in the immediate area.
My son and 16 yo Grandson walked the Bridge between Alex Bay and Wellsely Island. They found it great fun and better than a midway ride,
The US and Canadian spans were coordinated to a similar design that retains it's early C20th eleganceGreat views for those who choose to walk to the middle of the Canadian span
