This neighbourhood does have a slightly different feel to the rest of the city and it is worth an amble through if you have the time. It is filled with trendy boutiques.
We stayed in The Jordaan for 4 days and found it to be a great base for our day and night excursions, not too far from anything but yet much quieter than some of the other areas of Amsterdam. Great cafes and restaurants and of course the famous antique shopping area. Close to some of the attractions and near to public transport for the rest.
A beautiful area in one of the most beautiful cities of Europe! Lot's of traditional houses, channels, restaurants, cafes etc. Must visit and walk it!
If you want to cool down, this is the place to go. With grea cafees and restaurants you will find your place.
small shops and bars where you can sit and watch the world go by.Very good for people watching and watching the bikes weave their way around people and cars etc
Rode our bikes over to this neighborhood (you could easily walk) and spent most of our afternoon here. There a lots of cafes and bars, but they seem to mainly cater to local crowds. It was a very quiet, peaceful experience winding through the different streets; it has a village/provincial feel to it, where you could imagine life as it was 200 years ago (except for the advent of indoor plumbing). Recommend it for a few hours respite from the museums and drunken stag parties and hen nights!
