Took a trip up the Gloriana tram and then to Sao Roque Church and museum - beautiful. the views from the park beside the tram exit provides a wonderful vista over the City. Bairro Alto is old narrow and twisty and is interesting to see. In all a pleasant way to spend a morning.
This area has lots of bars and restaurants to chose from it seems never ending. As you walk around you have people promoting their establishments handing out flyers and cards. Lots of the bars have live music which we found excellent, many of the bars display their prices outside on menu board which we found pleasing also we found the prices so reasonable. As we went in February the area was pretty quiet but we were told in high season the place is buzzing . Some of the bars allow customers to smoke. Its well worth a visit.
For the nights out hopping from a bar to another. Good vibes and lots of people around inside and out of the bars
This was THE place to go to for a Friday night out on town in Lisbon. We reached there about 11pm and the party was just getting started. Alcohol is quite reasonably priced here, there are loads of interesting bars that you can hop into, and as the night progresses, the music gets better and the dance floors get packed. We left early in the morning after a great night of partying.
Very old and interesting area to walk around. Fill with locals and tourists and lots of little shops, bars and restaurants. You can either reach by a tram or walk up steep hill to reach here.
It has to be seen, Walked, Shopped and enjoyed at your own pace.... Early morning or late evening is Magical...
We really liked the Barrio Alto area for bars and restaurants, we were out late on Friday and Saturday nights and felt perfectly safe. We did get offered dope a couple of times, but it was never more than an enquiry and made me smile rather than be offended.Be warned though girls, do wear your "flatties" if you are walking far because of the cobbles and the hills
Looking for a party? more bars than i can count, cheap, thousands of nice ppl! The variety of bars is just astonishing
There are so many bars, cafes and restaurants to visit in this district it is hard to know where to start. Some look a bit unprepossessing but can turn out to be great; others look trendy enticing but can disappoint. Take your pick - it's fun finding ones you like.
I stayed in Bairro Alto. This is the best neighborhood and the reason I feel in love with Lisbon. The tiled buildings are so unique, the lookout is breathtaking, but the night life is the best part. The bars open their doors to the public and people crowd the streets to drink and mingle. It was the best time I've had going out in all of Europe!
