I could've watched the surfers all day. This was a great beach. Beautiful, and never over-crowded. The surfers were friendly, and will try to sell you lessons (and some other things), but are not pushy.
Best place for seeing other surfers, also overall very pretty beach. Surf varies from day today, OK at least for beginners but some times also very big waves. No real nightlife in this area.
Rented two surfboards and hit a good swell there. Not ideal for sunbathing, really a beach for surfing only. Locals rent boards but be sure to negotiate price before you hit the water.
Beach was flooded with seaweed, so much so that it was piled up like a wall on the beach. Facilities were run down and gross.
First time in Portland and one of my friends recommend me to coming here to eat...They got the best jerk chickek, pork, breadfruit and festival in Portland!!! So good and prices are reasonable
My boyfriend and I spent a week staying near to Boston Beach. The beach gives a real Jamaican cultural vibe and is not too touristed. Definitely not the nicest beach for relaxing in the Port Antonio area but surfing is what you come here for. Both me and my boyfriend payed to have a lesson and both managed to stand a few times (make sure to haggle, they try to charge ridiculous prices). It's great to watch the locals surf, some of them are amazing and make it look a lot easier than it is!
If you got to Boston Beach to surf you must find Mrs. Ivy and eat. The curried goat and fried chicken was fantastic.
It's chilled out, blue and lovely. We stayed at great huts. THis and the jere is the reason to stay here
liked to watch the surfers.. disliked the locals who meet you as you enter the beach & stay beside you..a little overwhelming for me, we only stayed a few minutes..the beach was full of seaweed, maybe because of the rough water but really no where you could sit & relax.
Visiting Boston beach for the first time in over 40 years we were horrified to see what it is like today. What was once a lovely little beach with a few jerk selling stalls now has a much smaller beach, a few dilapidated shacks, some spaced out people and a commercial jerk selling area just up the road. Go somewhere else if you want a decent experience!
