It was very refreshing to visit this beach. It was my first time there (2nd time in Jamaica) and I can't wait to go back. I have fun with the kids burying ourselves in the sand and there was a Lil boat ride attraction where you get into a speed boat and make jumps. I didn't do it but it was fun to watch.
Lovely quite scenic beach just within distance from the apartments in Mikuzi. You would almost think your on a private beach
This was our favourite beach in Portland. This beach is free for all (although you can give a small donation to help keep the beach clean) so there are a nice mix of locals and tourists here. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was really nice seeing Jamaican families with their children on the beach (the kind of atmosphere you just don't get at a private beach like Frenchman's Cove).
private beach, white sand, took a little getting to the beach, but the trip was well worth it, my family loved it, kids played in the water all day, had no problem getting them to bed later that evening
So happy to have experienced Winnifred Beach. Clean, pleasant, multiple nationalities, no harassment, no loud music, lots of children playing!
In comparing Winnifred, Boston, and long bay beaches:Winnifred: this one was overall the best. Beautiful views and a decent (but not plentiful) amount of sand to sit on. Friendly locals who provide coconuts (drinking and eating) and can cook food in their places on the beach. The "cleaning contribution" they ask for upon arrival is apparently not working as I saw a couple broken bottles. 4 stars.Boston bay: the touts are more aggressive here then the others. But I would say the view is the best of the three. The sand here is more powdery then the others, yet the water is very clear (makes for good photos). This beach is good for swimming due to fewer rocks under the water than the others. An obvious advantage of this beach is the jerk shacks at the entrance (Boston bay is the home of jerk chicken). 4 starsLong bay beach: I wasn't impressed with this one. There were many buildings damaged by hurricanes on the beach that weren't repaired. There was also a lot of garbage on the beach. The advantage here is plenty of sand to sit on (the other two only have a small amount). 2 stars for this one.I went to all three in the same day as route taxis were widely available and cheap.
The breeze was cool, lot of beautiful ladies. The food stalls had different foods, very delicious, the color of the water of the beach is blue. The long line of trees provide shade.
Best beach I've seen in Jamaica. The beach is public, clean and the water is just perfect. Perfect spot to chill out with friends or family!
very beautiful public beach, clean, nice white sand beach..few locals around but not pushy.. not crowded ..relaxing.. true feel of Jamaica :)
Not easy to find. Halfway down there is a sharp right hand bend. You are better off leaving your car at this point and walking down to the beach through the trees as the last mile beyond this point is really DIABOLICAL.Once you get there the beach is lovely and there are toilets and refreshment facilities as well as the usual trinket vendors.
