I'll have to be honest - I am not a big fan of Ancient Greek or Roman history. Nevertheless, this museum did not fail to impress with its wealth of ancient artefacts, relics and statues from those eras. It's amazing to see so many well-preserved, life-size statues and sarcophagi with such intricate details, complete with bilingual explanations of each in English and Turkish. The museum inside houses a vast collection, but you can find even more relics placed outdoors in the museum courtyard. There is even a small bird-house with a couple of peacocks and fancy breeds of chicken for some reason. The museum can be easily reached via tram from Kaleiçi. It is within a five to seven minutes walking distance from Konyaaltı Beach. I recommend going to the museum first, then relax on the beach for the rest of the afternoon.
I was there is August with 40 degrees heat!! We went in to get some AC but in the end I had to be dragged out. Anyone even remotely interested in history will love this place. Its got fossils to ancient furniture. Offered something for everyone.... Definitely recommend it!
being an archaeological buff I very much enjoyed this museum. It was very well detailed and filled with many artifacts. They even had art and some contemporary artifacts (rugs and the such). 85% of the information however was in Turkish. There were some comments in English but very little. You can take pictures in this place but of course like the majority of the museums not flash. Staff was very friendly and answered some of my questions.
This is the most SPECTACULAR collection of statuary from Antiquity I have ever seen. Even the Met in New York or the Getty in Los Angeles, or even the museums of Rome, don't have a collection this amazing. Literally dozens of huge statuary, burial vaults, bas relief facades, it just goes on and on. This is simply a MUST SEE when in Antalya. Takes about 2-3 hours unless you want to read each plague. Air conditioned, nice souvenir and cafe also. Don't miss this - it's a special thrill and treat. Young children will likely be bored. Photo taking is allowed including flash I believe. Fee is very modest - affordable. Plenty of parking in front, and I think there are bus connections from the city as it's kind of a in a suburb because of it's enormous size.
我们来到伊斯坦布尔的这家博物馆,我们并不十分确定自己是否真心享受这里但是这里真是规划完好而且相当有趣。我们参观完博物馆后又再周边周游了一番,真心很喜欢。
Lots of variety and something for everyone at this museum, set out well friendly staff and a very interesting varied display
Very beautiful museum and artifacts are amazing, you can spend all the day enjoying this views especially in summer with warm sun rays
For those who like history. Many things to see, beautiful design, you need definitely more than 2 hours to pay attention to all the exponates.
