Loved our recent visit here. We’ve been driving past this winery for years and never made time to stop until a recent weekend. The wine and food was excellent and the band playing was doing an excellent job. Views off the patios were scenic and picturesque. Definitely the type of place I can imagine spending an afternoon relaxing with friends. We arrived around 12:30 or 1 and it was already pretty full, so probably out to come early to stake out a spot if you have a large group. Tasting was free, I believe we sampled around 5 wines there.
This place rises to any winter occasion! Roaring fireplace - secluded old stone house! Summer's here are cool but sitting next to the fireplace or multiple outside fire burners in the winter? - reminds me of my old VT home. I'm eagle spotting as we speak. Why aren't there more more people flooding this place in the winter months I don't know. And their pizzas - meat trio in particular - rivals Farotto's for you St. Louis folks. Brian or Cheri who manage the place really care. My only regret in posting this review is that I'll lose my special winter dream spot!
Good pizza and gorgeous view. We stopped in for a bite to eat and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. It was a very nice place to visit and we will definitely be back.
Gorgeous scenery, sipping wines, munching cheese and crackers, lovely patio, beautiful music. What a way to spend a late afternoon, early evening.
There are plenty of better wineries in the area. Been coming here for years. Staff members were rude and unprofessional. Should be fired for awful customer service. I will never return. My elderly inlaws were forced to climb the hill and staff would not allow us to drop off our family and then park. I will make sure everyone we know hears this.
The day we went had to have been one of the busiest days there. The lower parking lot was filling up as we drove up to the Winery..... we did get a spot close up.. Yeaaa!!! We were greeted outside by a Wine Expert, he welcomed us to Montelle Winery..... we bought a cold bottle of the Montelle Stone House White ( sweet wine ) .... and also ordered lunch..... The weather was perfect! The sun was out, the wind was blowing and the temp was in the low 70's.... There was live music...... lots of people singing and dancing! What a great day!I'm sure Ill be back this year as the trees start to turn for the fall season...
There are beautiful views from this winery. Ample outdoor seating to enjoy your wine and a meal from their deli. We would go back.
We visited this winery on Valentine's weekend on our weekend getaway...I would rank the wine and the experience as one of our all time favorites!!! I am not a big wine drinker... So I am extremely picky. I found several wines I REALLY liked!!! Including some I wouldn't generally not drink. Sherry was amazing!!! She encouraged us to try wines that I would never consider! And showed us wines we could pair together to create new tastes! She was a lot of fun and helped make a great experience. The winery sits back off the hard road on top of the hill... The views of the country side where AMAZING!!! We will be returning to this area in the spring... And definitely will be spending time at this winery when we return!!!!!
On a recent trip to Missouri, my husband and I stopped in based on reviews. We were not disappointed. The views are spectacular. The tastings are free. Suzanne helped us with our tasting, giving lots of suggestions based on our preferences. They have a good selection of delicious wines. We had a light lunch on the deck. I could have watched that view all day.
We ventured here per recommendation from a server at another winery near Augusta for the seclusion and views, and we're not disappointed! This venue sits on top a bluff and has views of th valley below. The wines were very good and we bought a case with a nice volume discount and spent the afternoon with friends in the cabin with the fireplace, drinking and chatting! The staff was helpful and knowledgable about the wines..they also had numerous Grappa and Port flavors(the raspberry port is amazing). The tasting room has a nice selection of trinkets and gifts for purchase and an assortment of snacks and food. We can't wait to meet up with our Illinois and STL friends again for another visit. Also, nearby Defiance, MO is a nice place to check out with a nice local bar on the corner post winery.
