We went to their performance in January. It featured a solo from the harpist. This was quite a performance in a wonderfully acoustically-built church. The symphony was a great way to spend the evening.
My first experience was going in the 1960s and it was a wonderful group of musicians led by a small giant of a man, Harry Jacobs. Programming and visiting artists were fabulous. Hope this symphony lasts forever! How lucky are those who attend their concerts..
I regularly attend both their performances and those of the SC Philharmonic. They are superb and the conductor is outstanding. It is shame more young people don't attend.
My family and I drove 3 hours to Augusta for Momix (Friday at The Imperial Theater) and the John Williams Spectacular, Symphony Orchestra Augusta Saturday. What a wonderful weekend we had in your fine city! Thank you for a lovely time and a fantastic concert! I'd not seen a symphony since I was a kid, and it was a first for both my hubby and my 12 year old daughter. We will definitely be back! If anyone knows Ms. Lottie, please tell her it was a pleasure meeting her and her granddaughter, Lauren.
We enjoyed the great performance of the Augusta Symphonic Orchestra at the First Baptist Church on January 18th, 2014. The Strauss Odyssey was performed.I recommend this orchestra, money well spent if you like Symphony!
Maestro Z. brings interesting music both contemporary and old masters to the audience with guest artists to add interest. He brings out the best in each orchestra player with a level of performance one would expect in a large city. Excellent prices on season tickets.
The Pops in the Park was absolutely wonderful! Augusta is so fortunate to have such talented musicians and conductor to bring symphonic concerts to our area. We enjoy all of their performances, but particularly, we love the outdoor concert held every year on Mother's Day weekend in Evans at the Lady Antebellum Amphitheatre. It is free (although contributions are very much appreciated) and you can bring your lawn chairs or blanket, food, and wine or beer with you to enjoy during the concert. Watching the children dance to the music as the sun sets is just delightful. Thank you to the major sponsors that make this event possible for the public to enjoy!
First class entertainment. Visiting musical artists in the concert series complement the talent of the symphony orchestra.
A great evening of fabulous music in a comfortable venue! There's always a nice crowd and wonderful opportunity for a relaxing event when the Symphony Orchestra and the Bell Auditorium get connected.
Like wow! Who would ever think a town like Augusta could have such a top-notch orchestra? I have attended orchestra in Greenville, Columbia and even Atlanta and I believe this one beats them hands down. They have had two great leaders in the last decade. Thank goodness they can get such talent and have so many good programs. If you get a chance attend one of their shows at the Bell auditorium, you will enjoy it.
