The park has a playground and exhibits that small children might enjoy but the lighthouse and museum were not worth the $10 admission fee. The lighthouse museum lacked exhibits and had little historical information. Disappointing!
The light house and the boardwalk are very beautiful attractions and are well kept. The mock indian village, kind of need some sprucing up as well as the Pirate's Cave. They are a nice Idea but are due some updates. The Wooden Ships and the small amusement park turns out to be an ideal playground for small kids. Take the little one there, they'll have a blast!!!
This is more than a lighthouse. It is also a place to experience history. It is very interactive and seems like a lot of fun for children. We were there at the end of the day and enjoyed watching the sunset. They give you a coupon for a 15% discount at their restaurant across the street with its own parking. The Puerto Rican food was yummy.
Visited early Jan 2015 with my wife and 2 children (ages 10 & 11). The kids enjoyed the few hours we were there. The good. There's plenty to see. The views from the lighthouse and the waterpark are worth the admission fee. The playground and "aquarium" is ok. Everything else is "nice to have".The not-so-good. The park is very dated and needs some TLC. A few of the exhibits were closed (the big blue ship, starfish, slides, etc). The mini zoo is bad. A few birds, a couple of donkeys, mini horses, and goats, a turtle. I really felt sorry for the animals.I wouldn't recommed coming just for the lighthouse and historical park. Cueva del Indio is a few kilometers away. The observatorio is a little further out. You can do all three in one day.
The admission fee was quite high for a park that is quite dated. The aquarium was very small and the tanks were not clean. The views from the lighthouse were pretty, but generally not worth the price of admission.
On thanksgiving day we decide to pay them a visit, to my surprise is a complete package, they have a unique display of the history of Puerto Rico was. The aquarium was a plus, I wasn't specting this. The view, just looking at the view cover what we paid for the entrance.
Great place to go with kids. Great scenery for taking pictures. Easy access. Reasonable price for the visit.
What a great place to visit, if you have kids they will love it, if you havent and want to be a kid you will love it too. Ok 12 dollars each sounds a lot but over here its a couple of cocktails. It was a very warm day and the "park" wasnt that busy... the pirate adventure and aquarium are spot on. The three ships and the pirate ship are fun to walk on as are the history lessons on the native indians and the slave trade in a sympathetic manner. The little zoo is a bit naff but the walk up to the lighthouse is easier than described and the view of the ocean is cool. Even has a little restaurant and if you dont want to pay 3 dollars to park then park under the trees nr the beach.A very good 2 hrs try it!!!
We were there on 1/13/2015. Not much to see and not too many informative signs for the displays or the lighthouse itself. Some upgrades and TLC are definitely in order. The views are spectacular however. We didn't avail ourselves of the water attractions or the park too much, just went straight for the lighthouse. If you're a lighthouse buff, then maybe worth a visit for you.
Is a great place to take you kids in a fun experience, this is one of the first lighthouses on the island and is very well preserved. This is a must place to visit when you go to Arecibo!
